Update: I excised some (not all...a wee bit perhaps) of my drunk-ass bass playing (but boy howdy, I left that cheesy clinker in there loud and proud), added a few overdubs, went with a bigger sounding drum kit, and tried to make the mix more unapologetic. That last speedy lick is a farce. I think I got a fraction of a bar of it sounding even. I then made liberal use of cut and paste. Cracks me up.

Still needs some more balancing, but it's getting closer.

Original post: John recycled some lyrics from an errant acoustic tune that never saw the light of day.  That is some drunk-ass bass playing.

That would be Bruce's drunk ass.

Waiting for Heaven or Hell

I left my home far behind
Not knowing what I hoped to find
Years of traveling free
Taught me to listen and see
Though some may count me as wise
I've learned I can still be surprised

CHORUS
Oh, the wind's blowing cold
Chilling me to the soul
I stare through the bars of my cell
Waiting for heaven or hell

Came here looking for peace
Trouble's a relentless beast
In a room at the top of the stairs
Somebody's waiting there
I was too slow to see
She's not waiting for me

CHORUS
Oh, the wind's blowing cold
Chilling me to the soul
I stare through the bars of my cell
Waiting for heaven or hell

BRIDGE
I've been in some tight spots before
But always found a way out the door
Knowing even as I ran
The next one could be my last stand

She played me from the start
To rouse her jealous man's heart
Thinking he'd scare me away
But I left him dead as he lay
The judge wields a gavel and a glare
The jury has vengeance to spare

CHORUS
Oh, the wind's blowing cold
Chilling me to the soul
I stare through the bars of my cell
Waiting for heaven or hell
Oh, the wind's blowing cold
Chilling me to the soul
I stare through the bars of my cell
Waiting for heaven or hell

Awesome song guys. The beat and groove is so catchy. The guitar work is so impressive. ( bass sounds fine to me)Love the drums.  Top notch stuff all round.
Brilliant lyrics that fit so well, and I love the vocals.
You two really make some brilliant songs.

I dig the drunk-ass bass playing! The drums sound cool. John's vocals/lyrics are great and so is the panning you applied to them. The tremolo on the guitar at sections creates a nice ambient vibe. The guitar work is excellent!

I think this is splendid stuff.  The drunk-arse (English translation ;) bass drives this along - and the speedy guitar line towards the end is all good for me!  And the vocals!  Oh yes indeed.
