Hey Joe (Hendrix cover)

I think I hear Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" trying to wedge itself in a couple times. That's a cool fuzz tone. Going to have to play with my fuzz tonight, if I can get away with it.

I think it should be obligitory that everyone should do a Hey Joe cover. It's such a great tune no matter how many times you hear it and this is a very worthy cover Zoltan. Sounds great, sounds fresh and souds like you had fun here. Love your vocals Zoltan, loads of character and always a hint of cool and devilishness in them, Nice!  8)

You said "Unfortunately i did the vocals." and I'm listening and thinking "Huh? What? - No! - FORTUNATELY for us, you did the vocals". The vocals are great!  A lot of character in that deep voice of yours!  Few people around here could pull that off - I highly doubt I could!  I think your "neighbor" Geir could, but very few others ;D

The overall mix, drums etc., is also up to your usual high standards.

how about a "Hey Joe" fest?
I would never attempt to play this but I would for a fest...lol... and I doubt I could or would do it like this real gem...

changing the subject a touch... I honestly don't know the difference between overdrive, distortion, and fuzz... I know fuzz when I see it on a peach or on my kids face but they all seem like various amounts of distortion to me... but I like the fact that they market all them different (and likely all can be shown to be different)...
I am all for marketing and sales... and manufacturing etc... it creates jobs... for people so they can buy multi effects processors...lol...
and 20 dollar Behringer pedals...

Well me neither and you can add a boost to that list also! Although it's more easily understood. There's hard and soft clipping. Things to do with slew rates and all kinds of op-amps and what not.

I know that the fuzz is the most fun. It's also the one that's makes you adjust your playing technique. One has to be considerate on how to play when using a fuzz and of course even this depends on what fuzz that is.

It's not in the marketing either although many distortion/overdrive pedals can be made to sound the same, or sameish. The difference for me is how the pedal affects the way the guitar feels. It's more important (to me) than the sound. It directly affects the stuff i'll do with that particular pedal. In the mixing stage the sound can change and sometimes a cool and different sound turns into a "same old same old" sound in the mix. Especially if the song calls for it.

I have a lot of dirt pedals, but i'm always ready to trade away a pedal that gets surpassed, or doesn't give me the joy! It's actually only a positive thing if a new pedal makes the older one, or even several obsolete. Pedals that are different enough (with a character that i like) are always keepers.

Those Behringer pedals are based on real designs as there's nothing stopping them being a copycat. Most of the pedals are based on previous designs anyhow. For example the JHS Superfuzz i'm using here can be found dirt cheap as a Behringer SF300. It has even  more settings than the JHS pedal.

Interesting comments on Fuzz pedals!  I have no experience using them but have to admit (sheepishly?) that when Sweetwater had the one pictured below, that Zoltan actually mentions (!), on sale for $14 I broke down and bought it. How couldn't I, right?  It has so far given me great pleasure for the whole 10 minutes I played around with it. ;D  And now that I know it is a clone of a pedal Zoltan uses, suggesting that it has true street credibility, I'm feeling inspired!

I am dreaming that one day, in a moment of extreme creativity and passion, I will pull that Fuzz off the shelf (or from under the sofa?) and tear off a bone shaking riff that pushes my heavy rock song to #1 on the charts!  ;D

Honestly, if that song fails to break into the top 10, I swear I will package up the pedal and mail it to a guy in Finland who really has the talent to use it properly!  ;D

wonderful stuff... and I agree... if you ain't into it, let it go!  Hopefully someone else will like it.. and I imagine that many buy stuff because this what everyone is doing... generally, almost never I think that way... but I also imagine that certain ones become more special as everyone forgets about them...
I might check that Behringer out.

I certainly have no experience with fuzz but I generally like everything I have ever got from Behringer, mostly PA stuff and sound processing for PA... but I bought 3 Behringer pedals and used them about an hour and stuck them in the box on a shelf... however I recently, after reading about all these pedals everywhere, mostly on here, I got them down and tried them in some new ways.  This time instead of being disappointed at what they were not (namely like my Boss multi effects) I embraced what they were and what I might could do with them... and that became a blast then...
but if you do ditch it, postage would be alot cheaper to here in NC...lol... probably would cost more to  ship than to buy one new.... also Doug, those pedals that were those prices, I bought 3 for my bass, and they took forever to come as it was during covid...
