Thought I would wait a month to post a song... I didn't make it.
Last night's practice I decided to use my pawn shop strat and run it through three 20 dollar Behringer bass pedals (tuner, into overdrive into ultra octaver).  For extra fun I took the bypass out from the tuner DI to the board.  I really liked the sound of the clean electric pickups with the crazy sounds from the pedals panned a bit left and right.  I recorded this kind of cool 3 and 4 note/chord progression (d, e, g and a I think).

I played along to drums from the Casio keyboard a bit faster than usual...

then I tried to add my drums... mostly I didn't like but the kick I added here and a smidge of the others.

today I got the lyrical idea after listening to this.... and lately I have thinking of Rock Lobster and Private Idaho from the B52's.... so this likely influenced this.. alot maybe..  then I added another of similar guitar but a bit of lead there..

Cleansing My Soul
Going oriental, feeling sentimental, seeming kind of asian.  What is the occasion?
Playing with the squirrels.  Feeling fast inside.
Where do  I run?  Where do I hide?
Come out, come out wherever you are!

No more fear, no more sadness.  Let the joy bubble up inside.
Tickle my ivories, it's all jim dandy, like eating candy.
Feeling kind of Kate, letting go of hate.  Dredging up the 52's....
There's a pink hamster inside.
Pink hamster!  Pink hamster!

Step aside Floyd.      Pink Hamster!
Pink hamster, pink hamster.

Feeling a potato, eating a tomato, staying out of Idaho!  Bad vibes!
Letting go of hate, feeling kinda   Kate.  Getting out my skates.  Man I'm running late.

Pink hamster.  Pink hamster.

No more fear, no more sadness.  Let the joy bubble up inside.  Tickle my ivories, it's all jim dandy.  Just like eating candy.
Sounding kind of Kate, letting go of hate.  Dredging up the 52's.  Losing all my marbles, it's all kind of garbled.  Pink hamster.
Pink hamster!  Rrrrr    who, who who's
hahahahas

I should add I recorded this wearing SPANDEX pants... no joke..

This is positively nuts! Did you know that hamsters can stuff their face with so much food that it can be felt from their sides?

I get the B52's vibes and there's possibly even a touch of DEVO. What is most surprising that you're close to turning into Anthony Kiedis! This phrase "Feeling a potato, eating a tomato, staying out of Idaho!" could have easily been a lyric for a Red Hot Chili Peppers song :) Perhaps you'll get a tribal tattoo and start jumping around in bermuda shorts, OR if you'd like to be a more modern version of Kiedis you'd grow a mustache. In anycase you have the potential if he quits the band. Just saying.... And i'm sure their next album would be all the better for it!

That Casio is a gift that keeps on giving and so is this song.

Oh, i had hamsters too, and gerbils, a guinea pig, a bunny etc.

I'll just shorten this to "I've had a zoo".

I hope you didn't try to dye them pink... That would be naughty.

It's like Chinese Devo/Loverboy with an American lead singer! Laugh out loud lyrics and what a groove. I love that you can get such a spontaneous yet full sound without it sounding messy.  Everything just fits here!

This is quite mad yet great to listen to. It's like the B52's on steroids.

I think I can hear the tuner.

This is very B-52ish. The falsetto voice to the side is great.

You are my kind of odd my friend.

Strange but compelling. Love the manic propulsion of the music, and the vocal is a great performance. As a B52's fan I thoroughly approve. Excellent!
