There were many great artists lost in 2022 but the big one for me was Wilko Johnson. Wilko was a force of nature and a huge influence not just on me but on so many of the bands I like and have liked over the last 45 years. I saw Wilko live more times than any other and I doubt that record will be overtaken.

This is me and my Tokai Telecaster (what else - in fact the very first time I saw Wilko he swapped his Fender for a Tokai briefly. It's what made go out and buy the one I still have nearly 40 years later).  Then there's the Squier Jaguar bass and GarageBand drums.

This sounds major Nick... I don't have alot of experience with Wilko.
I am kind of surprised by this one... it is a totally different sound and very electric blues rock... which I really like a lot...

The bass reminds me of Dusty Hill from ZZ (RIP)... it's really really solid and absolutely perfect....
your guitar work on this is great.  I love the tones, the way you run the lead and rhythm in together really works so well...

I am a big fan of this one.  oh yeah, you sing this well too.

Fantastic job Nick. Shame on me I totally forgot we lost Wilko in 2022. I saw him a couple of times and I didn't know much about him before I saw him play but he won me over. I like his style it kinda sits in it's own genre for me. A bit punky, but a bit bluesy and heavy rock too. Brilliant job with this, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great cover, Nick. You definitely captured Wilko's style - the guitars (and vox) are top-notch.

I'm not as familiar with Dr. Feelgood's songs as I could be, but your cover makes me want to hear more of them.

HI ODH,
Great cover here, my friend.
Love the guitar solo, and your vocals is so nicely recorded!!!
Well done, I am enjoying this song.

What a superb cover, Nick. And clearly done with a lot of love. You really nail Wilco's spiky, manic hybrid rhythm/lead work. So, so good.

If anyone hasn't seen it, the Julian Temple documentary 'The Ecstasy of Wilco Johnson' is an incredible work of art - basically Wilco's life seen through a terminal cancer diagnosis. It's very uplifting (really). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4188192/

I've also followed Wilco a long time. His hero was Mick Green from Johnnie Kidd and the Pirates, and I worked with Mick's son (a bass player) for a while.

Great work Nick!

Yes I watched it last week over a handful of lunchtimes, it's a remarkable story.

Back when the news of his diagnosis first came out I did a cover of another of his songs, When I'm Gone , ten years ago now. Back then I could do the rhythm and the lead parts at the same time, I had to overdub the lead this time.
