"Last Train to Clarksville" is a song by American pop rock band the Monkees. It was released as the band's debut single on August 16, 1966. The song was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. The genre is listed as Country Rock. I used 13 tracks for this recording, counting stereo tracks, which are done on my old Fostex VF160. I used my Ernie Ball OLP guitar for all the guitar parts, into a Crate V5 valve amp, mic'ed with a vintage dynamic AKG 1000E mic. The pedal chain is; Akai analog compressor> MXR Prime distortion> ISP Decimator II noise reduction. The bass is a Squire Modified Jazz into an RNC compressor and then direct to the board. The straight-forward drums are from a Zoom MR3 drum machine. My goal was to mimic all the vocal parts on guitar but I had some fun on the outro and cut loose a bit. I always thought of this as a simple bubble gum song but I have a newfound appreciation for it after working out the parts and recording it. Mastered by LANDR. It was a lot of fun doing this all by myself!

Oh lovely, I know the song like I guess most people do, but I have to agree I have to look at it in a different light, great chords/structure. But you took it to another level of cool for me Farrell  8)

Super tasteful and accomplished playing and a lovely chilled out listen.

Some mighty fine guitar sounds there Farrell. Nice playing and good job dialing in and emulating that classic Fender vibe (but without a Fender). A really fun song!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Really good instrumental..great guitar playing and harmonies. Think I'd prefer this to the original vocal version.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Fun, warm and vibey! Great playing! The drum beat is a bit of a toetapper too.
