For the instrumental festival

dedicated to all our Irish friends or more widely to all those who ,like me ,feel Celtic affinities*

Irish Boy is a music composed for the movie Cal by Mark Knopfler in 1984

I don't often play keyboards but here I mixed sounds of Hammond horgue, French Horn, Crystal sound, Tymbal
The guitar is with a preset of Guitar rig 6 Creamy snow flake (from Florent Garcia, a french guitarist)
The wisthle part I played with my Low wisthle in D

* note sur les origines Celtes des savoyards

In Savoie (France) a Gallic people, the Allobroges were Celts and originally spoke the Celtic language of which the patois kept some words. They were a people of proud and rough warriors, gathering many tribes, who became sedentary and devoted themselves to agriculture. The name Allobroge would come from the roots allo (other) and brog (country), that is to say the people who came from other countries. Brave fighters, these Celtic people would have settled in the Northern Alps at the beginning of the 3rd century BC. The Greeks called them "Allobroges".

Jean lovely cover On my crappy speakers (altec) here at work, the bass is really pounding on these and almost over shadowing the Whistle work. I will listen in the studio tonight when I get home.  I wish I had heard this earlier. My father inlaw passed and the funeral is this weekend so I put a video together for the service and this would have worked out great for it, as it was I ended up putting Bother at Arms by Dire Straights as background music

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Jean Pierre

Thank you Tim, all my condoleances for the death of your father in law...

Indeed, and thank you for this remark the bass in the last mastering I did was saturating a lot (because of a bad plug ins)

I rectified that...

This is great JP. on my second listen here. Some great whistle playing. Mark Knopfler writes some lovely music. This indeed is very cinematic. You put a lot of time and work into this and created a great version.

Hi Jean,
You are a true artist.
I love this instrumental cover, and love the whistle especially.
Stay well, my friend!!!

It's true that the Wisthle is not an easy instrument to use and it's difficult to make it sound two and a half octaves without making a noise! I had to go back to it several times especially with the first note D which has an annoying tendency to sound at the octave

Well, it's very interesting to study and there are lots of tutorials on YT

Well, as I'm in a wisthle period I'm going to do soon a great classic "An Buchaillin ban" Irish,Scottish or british? song

Lovely playing and production on this!  I wasn't familiar with the piece, but like it a lot.  Especially enjoy your wistle playing.  And the drums/percussion on this sound really good too - are they from Band in the Box?

..no Doug once is not usual I used a master keyboard and on Reaper (almost free) SFZ RGC sofware (free) and Merlin Orchestra soundfonts bank (free)

I also used a great VSTi Bative Instrument Hammond organ simulation which was free a few years ago but I think it doesn't exist anymore
