Not had much chance to do anything this last month for one reason or another but managed to do this track today from the Stranglers' 1977 album Rattus Norvegicus. A bit above my pay grade but managed to get some keyboard sounds from a variety of apps. I also found out when checking the tempo that it's in 3/4 time and the BR800 doesn't have any patterns in that time so I had to quickly learn how to use the BR800 rhythym editor software.

Pete

At ODH's request, I've re-done the vocal without the harmony.

Great job on this Pete - I was expecting the bass and guitars of course, but the organ work sounds period-authentic as well. Took me right back to 1979 (yes, I was a bit late getting on The Stranglers train here in the US ;) ).

Well done!

this is so flippin fannytastic... it's a bit psychadelic too...
you are a rock star Pete...

on this you have a bit of Phil Lynott in the vocal.. that bass is so bloody good...and the guitar s rock.

the extras are fantastic... is it ok if this is my favorite recording of yours so far?  i don't remember the song at all but the music is very pro and even a touch proggy too...
lots of great elements in this track... glad to hear you did some dusting!!!!!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Love me some Stranglers! A brave cover.

Great job also with the rhythm editor!

Here's how I "tricked" the Micro BR into doing 3/4 patterns:

Quote from: Ted on September 12, 2022, 04:39:03 AMI used 4/4 patterns with swing, and I slowed them down to two-thirds or one-third the tempo.

The song tempo is 150 BPM. In order to try out the drum patterns, I was constantly changing the tempo. If the 4/4 swing was based on quarter note triplets, I had to reduce the tempo to 100 BPM. If the 4/4 swing was based on eighth note triplets, I had to reduce the tempo to 50 BPM. (There are even some patterns with swing based on sixteenth-note triplets, which I auditioned at 25 BPM.

This tune is wonderful madness. I am pretty comfortable away from 4/4, but this has some off kilter spots that caught my ear in a good way.

Bloody brilliant, Pete. Rattus was one of the first albums I owned and is special to me, sounds like it is special to you too. You've really treated it with love and respect. I agree this is your best. The harmony vocal caught me a bit off guard (I'd love to hear a mix with the main vocal only), but fan-dabby-tastic overall.

Les voici JP...

Your streets were paved with love
Your skies were blue
Goodbye Toulouse
I walked your streets in fear
I washed your streets with tears
Toulouse
Goodbye Toulouse
Your cafes tell the tale
Of saddened millionaires
Toulouse
A million dreams I've had
A million lies I've told
Toulouse
Goodbye Toulouse
Paula looked down on me
From her high balcony
Toulouse
I will return some day
So you can hear me say
Farewell
Goodbye Toulouse
Goodbye Toulouse
Goodbye Toulouse

I re-recorded the vocal without the harmony effect and replaced the previous version. I think it sounds better. Thanks for your comments !
