Recluse.  Another excuse to sit and waste his life away.  Lost in the e minor, managed to escape being a coal miner.  Had enough children to say he was a Virginia virgina miner.
Trying to escape life in Appalachia.  The mountains suck you in.  Turns some into trolls.  On all it takes its toll.  Trying to escape life in Appalachia, on all it takes its toll.
Lost in the moonshine (and the mushrooms).  He's hiding in his barn.  He's got a double barrel shotgun, pointing at the door.  If the wrong person walks in they'll get filled full of birdshot.  Whoops.  Thought you was a pheasant, peasant!  Stay the F away.  Stay away fucker.
Trying to escape life in Appalachia.  The mountains suck you in.  Turns some into trolls.  On all it takes its toll.  Trying to escape life in Appalachia, on all it takes its toll.
A few years ago, some hippies moved in.  Years ago they wouldn't be allowed (in).  But now they teach about mushrooms and tea.  It's breeding a whole new level of crazy.  Crazy Appalachia people.  Like they really need to be anymore crazy!

More about the story in the next comment.
I used my Jay Turser pawn shop rescue guitar on this.  I started writing the music yesterday.  I recorded a stereo guitar track to a metronome 4/4 at 120bpm to get the song idea down.  It was using Zoom R24 distortion setting (7 i think), that I sent analog to the Zoom L20.
Then I worked on the drums.... took me quite a while.  I haven't been playing alot.  Alesis Nitro.
Then I worked on the bass, which I direct input to the Zoom L-20.  I liked that very clean approach.  The Shecter has a big signal because it is active eq.  I kept at the bass because I need to play alot more that I have been.
I scrapped all the leads from yesterday.  Today I started working on lyrics and vocals.  This was fun.  1 lead vocal that I duplicated for 3 total.  Panned two of them well l and r and added different effects to them on bandlab, after recording with the MXL mic and Zoom L-20.
2 backing tracks panned toward L and R and different voice presets on bandlab.
Spent alot of time mixing all that and then did the lead guitar part.... again the Jay Turser Strat but this time using a modified guitar patch from the BR1600 over to the L20....
mixed on bandlab, readied on audacity, mastered on Landr.

this is a story about a area of the US known as Appalachia.  It's people of the Appalachian mountains I suppose, though I am no expert on this... it's a novel about a man who used to be a womanizer, and avoided coal mining.  Life in the mountains is no picnic.  Folks who did it know.
At one time some of the moonshine would make folks blind or crazy or dead.  Some were using cooking gear with lead that tainted the shine.  I have actually seen warnings about it, that at one time were common.
I took a lot of liberties here.  Then it morps into a story about people who move into the area and brings another level of crazy with them.  Then there are the thoughts of what it might be like because of all of this 100 years later.
And yes, some managed to escape Appalachia, while others survived, and some really caught it's overall vibe.

My +30 minutes with this song. Based on true fiction that happened just a while ago.

I was listening to this song while driving. I had the player on repeat. I knew there would be a one heck of a story, and probably such a soundscape that it would keep me entertained. As the song progressed i had to really concentrate on the driving. Otherwise how would i break the news?
- Honey, i crashed the car!
- What happened?
- Stephen
- ...? What?
- Appalachians
- Are you ok? Did you hit your head?

There was a lot to be heard, and boy did i hear it all!
Then it got dark. Real country dark (a slight exaggeration). It was sundown.
Was i alone in the car? What were those weird noises?
Before totally losing it i managed to park the car and exit the vehicle. Under the pale light of the modern led based street lamps i glimped inside the car, holding a beanie as a weapon and saw nothing.
Then i went shopping for velcro. There was none to be had.

This time i drove back in silence. Sometimes silence is golden.

Now that i'm back at home and i hear the chilly wind blowing outside, i think back and reminisce of the times i spend with this song. How could someone cram so much into a one song? It felt epic. It was kinda like watching the whole of Lords of the Rings trilogy(* and eating Hobbits for breakfast.

(* Disclaimer. I never watched any of those movies. I read the book and that's enough. It was comparable to On the Road, but with more dragons.

Rip-roaring, rockin track! Hilarious lyrics and a super groovy bass on this, I love the tone you got here. Nice lead work near the end too. Another SteveM scorcher!

Always something different from you, Stephen. This is a great track and love the humour of the lyrics. To me, it's got an early Zappa kinda feel with that quirky kinda vibe. Love that line "Virginia vagina hunter" and the guitar work sounds stellar.

Like the raw guitar sound. Interesting lyric and subject matter. Good vocal delivery - nice one!

Yeah cool Steve. I always get a bit tripped out listening to your original tracks, they usually take you on a colourful, crazy journey. It does sound a bit crazy in Appalachia especially compared to my close to hermit like existence :) But cool song and loved the guitar too.

Interesting song and style on this one, very inventive, when saw adult content i was expecting a miley cirus style video to go with the tune, wild track
