A new one...

So the general idea is an attempt to try and call people together, as in the last few years people seem so polarised and unable or unwilling to entertain opposing arguments. This to me is really sad, it wasn't like this years ago, we could talk and engage quite happily with people with other opinions. Genuinely "bad" people are much rarer than the media and social media would have us believe and we have much more in common than we are led to think.

Take it easy on your brother
Don't look down upon the way he lives his life
He's got a different politics
He's on the other side of the divide
Yeah that old guy next door
Y'know he's seen much more than you can realise

Well look around your neighbourhood
Y'know that life it ain't so easy anymore
Cause it's brother fighting brother
Sister fighting sister that's for sure
Y'know that old pipe dream
Well we cut it down, we cut it down to size

Now all we're doing is trying to survive
Yeah all we're doing is trying to survive

You see it everywhere you look
You hear it every time you get up outta bed
Yeah we're at each others throats
Yeah we're calling for another person's head
It isn't going anywhere
Cause none of us gets out of here alive

Now all we're doing is trying to survive
Yeah all we're doing is trying to survive

Now all we're doing is trying to survive
Yeah all we're doing is trying to survive

Now all we're doing is trying to survive
Yeah all we're doing is trying to survive

A great message in the lyrics Mike. Cool vocal and the backing vocal works well at emphasizing the chorus and other sections of the song. You have those Garageband drums down pat. Good work!

Hi Mike!!!  Great lyrics and real questions that cannot be answered.  Excellent theme and bold subject...and we all need to put down our angst toward each other and focus on overcoming the enemy...
Cool music as always Mike... your songs always resonate deep in my soul

Cool song. Good lyric that hold the interest - the slightly monotone delivery of the vocals suit this track. Nice one Mike!

This is a great song, Mike with excellent production. That 'attitude driven' vocal suits the song perfectly. Some cool drum programming too and great lyrics which sadly reflect today's society. Once you argue with anyone these days or have a different opinion they wanna kill you.

Definitely a driving vibe throughout. The minor key works well with the mindful vocals. Cool! 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

A great song! The lyrics are certainly the strong point and the main focus, but there's so much to like that it would work even without listening to the message. As i'm sure some people would do at least on their first two listens (i used to be that person so i'm speaking from experience ;)). The backing has this slightly haunting quality to it. It's a somewhat sad sound, but more like "history spreading its wings / repeating". If that makes any sense.

The drum programming is clever, and one would not think that these are programmed drums at all when listening the song. The vocal performance is down to earth, and understated in a way that works for the song.

Very well recorded track, i like the rock vocals on this and the feel of the track, has a grungy dark vibe to it which really suits the theme.
I like the sentiment of the lyrics . I'd like to think in real life most people are accepting of each others . it's just the net that is hooking all the crazies into their fish bowl bubbles.

I love the music and the lyrics are great.   I feel the same way about the general ripping and tearing of social fabric.

Where I am in Canada, I feel that the two sides of the political spectrum are growing farther and farther apart, leaving me in the middle with a bunch of screaming and yelling replacing discourse.   I want friendly neighbors, toleration, and diversity, but it seems that these words mean something else to everyone else, than they do to me.  Where did being kind go?  Who does that now?

I don't think it's JUST that social media is toxic.  I think there is a growing phenomenon, sociologists call it Schismogenesis, and it's how societies fall apart.

Really good song, the lyrics make you think. True what you're saying. Love the feel and mood of the song. Great music and nice catchy choruses. I like the synths in the background.
