diggin this to the moon and back...

glad you got a few minutes to breathe.. gotta say this is the perfect precursor to Blooby and Lurkers following song on the latest jukebox...
it almost sounds a bit, just a little like KM singing... I really love the guitar tones on this...
I was never into really super death metal but groups like JP and the Scorpions hit the sweet spot in my rock hierarchy library...  love the hold out vocal there followed by that almost too quiet guitar (it's not too quiet but it's almost scary after that vocal)
Beavis and Butthead used to say this all the time... Breakin the Law, breaKIN the law

Cracking cover Zoltan. I was very into punk and New Wave  in the late 70's but I did like some of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) that emerged around that time like Judas Priest, Saxon, Iron Maiden. Breaking the Law was always one of my favourites. Great to hear your version !

Thanks for all the kind comments!
I try to avoid commenting my own songs so i don't unnecessarily bump them up... But in rare cases i must :D

I did this track as a karaoke track (with a backing track from Youtube) a few days ago and i managed to hit the notes. I even recorded a short snippet. Then i was feeling INVINCIBLE and recorded the backing track and tried to "wing it". My ears were slightly clogged and my throat was slightly sore. Now that i listen to this track i can hear how much worse this is than the earlier version :D

Turns out i got minor cold. It's not only my throat that's hurting today. I used this song for rehearsing the vocal placement (if that's the right term). So i continuously change my voice from a bit more normal into "Rob Halford" (a far cry from that :)) -style. Into a more nasal and cutting tone.
I don't know how to do it properly, but i occasionally manage to reach this zone. At that point the vocals are much easier to perform and fit a lot better when doing metal / hardrock -type of stuff. The kind of stuff i avoid for several reasons. The main reason being that i'm not THAT inspired by stuff like this and the other is that i can't sing this style.

So i'm trying to learn a bit by bit. And i DID yell really loud, but not as loud as before (the karaoke version). The only way i could even try to reach some of the notes / sounds is by singing as loud as i can. With the "vocal placement" thing i'm trying to find a voice that's more cutting, but also a one that makes it easier to reach the notes without such a volume bump.

It was only after recording this when i went back to "easy" songs that are more in my mumble -type of register that i noticed that i couldn't sing them anymore :D I'm not feeling bad and my throat is sore only a bit. But i'm resting my voice for a day, or two.

As an aside. The last time i did this kind of singing (or more like tried my first steps with this thing) was the Video Lover and at that time i had corona! So i guess metal means sickness for me!

Edit: To illustrate what i'm trying to do here's a snippet of the vocals with explanation:

(Just a hint of higher vocal placement)
There I was completely wasting, out of work and down

(Starting from the word FRUSTRATING it's 100% higher vocal placement)
All inside it's so frustrating as I drift from town to town

[Pre-chorus]
(This is the hardest line. This i have to yell and in this take i miss the notes almost completely)
Feel as though nobody cares if I live or die

(Higher vocal placement from the word ACTION and again i'm missing the notes)
So I might as well begin to put some action in my life

[Chorus]
This part is easy. I'm not even trying in the first chorus. Just relaxing.
It doesn't sound like much, but i'm mostly interested in those harder parts.

I was a big fan of Judas priest saw them twice at the Glasgow Apollo, the first time was to promote (I think)the album Stained Class.  I was really impressed however next time i saw them was for the tour to promote either Killing Machine or more likeley the album this track came from British Steel.
I was so excited to see them again,  Rob Halford came out dressed in biker gear with his hair cropped (pre coming out)on a Harley Davidson motor bike, cracking a bull whip over the excited audience. Please note the stage at the Apollo was very high. Whilst cracking the whip, someone in the audience caught hold of it, pulled it, resulting in Mr Halford and bike toppling over, from that moment on my love of heavy metal and Judas Priest was over, the illusion destroyed.

That said great version  :o  :o  :o

Ha! Great story :D I saw them live a few years ago. Seeing them in their heyday would have been preferable for most people, but at that time i didn't like them. I thought they were gays! (Based on their style of clothes) Sorry for the strong language, but i was young and naive, and my views of the world were still smallish.

Anyway i did listen to most of the other bands of that era. The "hair metal" stuff etc. The only band i was slightly worried about was Scorpions (because i had a poster where they looked a bit "strange") yet i didn't see any problems with bands like Twisted Sister, or W.A.S.P. So turns out I was the strange one :D

It was only a few years ago i finally GOT what Judas Priest is about. I'm not listening to this stuff on a daily basis, but enjoy it occasionally. So i'm kinda fresh with covering a song like this.

Publicly I too was more punk & new wave, but I did have Saxon's Wheels of Steel 7", and I think I might have had the Judas Priest album with this track on tape off a mate.

Great to hear your version, it brought a smile to my chops.

I often sing this song whilst making the bed, except I sing "making the bed, making the bed" instead
