Show him the track all the way back
To that place he calls his hometown
To the grim and grimy streets of litter and weeds
Go ahead give him all the lowdown.
Where grey is the grass, red is the sky
And black is the freezing snow
Where even wolves won't go.

Show him the track all the way back
To the defeated, depressed life tapestries
The broken wills, the discarded pills
To the boarded-up windows of the factories
Where eyes see nothing and ears don't hear
Where living is like sculpting with smoke
Where even wolves won't go.

Show him that old house now repainted
With the memories still showing through the cracks
The school of hard knocks and yesterday's clocks
And yesterday's dusty dirty tracks

Show him that space, the secret meeting place
Amongst the bushes beside the old canal
The first of the deals and fast food meals
The first illicit kiss with the femme fatale
Where time stopped as if every hourglass was clogged
And the bogged rivers never again will flow
Where even wolves won't go.

Well the lyrics paint a picture which I am sure is different in every bodies mind, Old deserted towns and first loves

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

This is some fantastic wordsmithing, Ray! The story is told so vividly from start to end. The acoustic guitar carries the song well through the changes. I like how you subtly built the mood by gradually introducing the strings, the drums, and the lead guitar. When combined with the vocals, it is quite intense without going too far. Excellent my friend!

In my case I'm getting images of a grimy northern English town with its closed down factories and unused canals... great song Ray !

Superb title first of all, and I always love your lyrical sophistication and storytelling. Love the sweet note of optimism that the guitar solo brings. The whole thing is beautifully crafted and performed - such atmosphere. And that ending! Fantastic!

The words certainly paint the story another beauty Ray

Slow build up and love the way it bursts into life with those drums and excellent distorted guitars.
Your lyrics are always so good. Love listening to the stories you tell ray. Music and production just great.
