Oh dear, I forgot Pan's Labyrinth and LOTR. They should be in there, agree.

dasilvasings

1. Star Wars IV, V, VI for the 30 years of entertainment (each time I see it I have this secret hope that this time the Empire will beat the crap out of the ewoks and crush the rebel scum)

2. Blade Runner, because of the soundtrack and because it is the only hardcore sci-fi that you can watch with a woman, have an intelectual debate and impress her providing you don't tell her that your favorite part is watching rutger hauer beating harrison ford's ass

3. Subway, by Luc-Besson, because of the car chase in the beginning and all the odd underworld in the Paris Metro

4. Monty Python (can't choose one -perhaps meaning of life)

5. Any Tarantino/ Roberto Rodriguez (can't choose one - perhaps Jackie Brown)

6. (six?errrr) Any Lars Von Trier

7. The Shining - It still scare me

8. Barbarella - Jane Fonda strip with 0-gravity, and the cheesiest soundtrack. What else?

9. Thoroughly Modern Millie Girl - Great soundtrack and fully dressed Julie Andrews. What else?

10. Any David Lynch (Lost highway? Mulholannd Drive? Lost Highway becase of the quote:

Mystery Man: We've met before, haven't we.
Fred Madison: I don't think so. Where was it you think we met?
Mystery Man: At your house. Don't you remember?
Fred Madison: No. No, I don't. Are you sure?
Mystery Man: Of course. As a matter of fact, I'm there right now.
Fred Madison: What do you mean? You're where right now?
Mystery Man: At your house.
Fred Madison: That's fucking crazy, man.
Mystery Man: Call me. Dial your number. Go ahead.

The Shining... how could I forget that?!

I think I'll have to have a top 30 to cram them all in!

AndyR

Just off the top of my head without thinking:

My Fair Lady
Zulu
The Apartment
Animal House
Lawrence of Arabia

Interesting that My Fair Lady still comes out first, it's been doing that with me for nearly 40 years now, never been usurped...

If I was allowed another 5, these could come to mind:

Top Hat
The Pianist
Play it again Sam
Paleface
The Quiet Man

So many, so many...

Meet Me in St Louis
Scrooged
You've got mail
Debbie does Dallas
Sleepless in Seattle

I could do so many top 5 films...

1. Platoon - Don`t know why but i can watch this movie over and over. Great actors!!
Should i name them? You know em all..
and my fav line of all time by Tom Berenger..Cause when the machine breaks down, we break down.

2. Quest For Fire - I thought this was a well put together caveman movie for made in 1980.
For a movie with no talking of a language but caveman. You know exactly what`s going on. Genius!

3. Shawshank Redemption - Just a great story and great acting.

4. Goodfellas - Fav gangster movie of all time and i do like all the others but this one is endless
greatness. Joe Pesci shooting Spider is classic!

5. Wedding Crashers - I probably have a ton more comedies just as good as this but i thought this
one ruled and especially Will Ferrell at the end as Chaz living with his mom
and picking up chicks at funerals..LMAO!

Probably could change this around everyday. Hard to do this subject really :-\
