Thoughts about our fests.

I think they are too long. The Beatles one deserved its extension (c'mon it's the Beatles for heaven's sake!), but having two fests simultaniously for a month and a half is way too long. Both of these festivals may have lost their appeal after 1 month.

Sorry...... I have been waiting ages to be first on a post so I can use that! :)

I think it is nice to have the variety by having two fests at once.

The last few festivals have been extra long. BeatlesFest was extended to 12 weeks. DylanFest and ComedyFest are 11 weeks. The reason they're extra long is because I want all of our festivals to start on the first of the month from now on. But BeatlesFest ended October 16th. Rather than wait till November 1st to start DylanFest and ComedyFest, I decided to start them on October 17th and run them till the end of the year so that the next festivals can start on January 1st. This made sense since I knew that people would be busy around Christmas and not have much time for the festivals, so the extra two weeks gave everyone a better chance of getting a song or two completed. Also, I wanted to have YuleFest in December so the extra two weeks helped to make it possible to have three festivals simultaneously.

But next year we should be able to stick to the plan of two festivals every two months (an Artists/Covers fest and a Theme fest), starting on the first of the month.

Please vote for the Jan/Feb "Artists/Covers" festival here: https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=9747.0

and the "Theme" festival here: https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=9746.0

It is obvious that not everyone is gonna be happy but i would say they should be since we have 2 fests going on at the same time.

Now that it`s the beginning of each month it makes it easier for sure.

I love the 1st of the month. It's an excellent choice. My opinion on two festivals is that it is a great idea, but if it were me (and of course it's not) I'd have the two festivals start on opposite months. So the first festival would start on Jan1 and run until Feb 28 or (29) when the next festival would start on March 1. But the second festival would start Feb 1 and run through the end of March. Every month a new festival would start, but every festival would last 2 months.

Of course now we've finally got them organized and set up properly I go and suggest a change. *heh* I have no idea how we'd get them staggered like that. Either way I'm pretty happy to hear/see a great motivational tool that these fests have become. And honestly, this place is great so please don't take my suggestions as a criticism. It isn't intended that way.
