I like how the two guitar parts play off each other and you get a great tone out of the guitars.
Very nice peaceful flow to this.
Happy Holidays Bruno !!

How are you recording those guitar parts?  What mic / setup?

They sound great whichever way it is...

So Nick - this is three stereo tracks recording the Brook Taw. Mike is the large condenser SE 2200T (Tube Mike), into an impedance matching transformer (low to high), into the Kemper. The Kemper is being used as an effects processor here, so no amp profiling happening. The Kemper is Stereo out, and adds compression (a lesson for me how much you need compression when recording an acoustic), and stereo reverb. I think there is a stereo widening effect on the base finger picked track. Kemper straight into the BR1600. Finger picked is panned in the middle, the two melodies are stereo planned slightly left and right. Mastered on the BR1600.

With compression, you are record at some distance without losing body, so probably 2 feet away from the mike. The problem with compression is that is brings out any choked notes, or poor fingering, or fret slide. Ho-hum.

I think that's about it.

Thanks for that Bruno, it all works very well to get a good result.

I've not heard of Brooks guitars before, just looked them up on the information superhighway.  Well worth a look. Talk about GAS...

Lovely Bruno ,I'll take the advice on the compression and try it out on a few recordings.
I'm going to do a few back to basics songs. I.e one acoustic guitar and vocal.
This has put me in the mood.
Well done,a great piece of playing.

Very fluid and gorgeous version...and my granddad's absolute favorite Christmas carol, too.

Beautifully done, bruno.

Brother, you know me too well  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nick - Brook guitars should carry a health warning, they cause GAS like no other. I have two, the Taw used on this recording, and the TAVY built to spec (https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=14859.0 (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=14859.0)). They are seriously the craziest company ever, and I love 'em to bits. They make less than 100 per year, only a 4 man team, but it is an experience like no other. In the middle of no where, and every guitar is unique.  ;D ;D ;D

If you scroll down the comments, I've posted some pictures of the Taw on this. The Taw is actually a smaller bodied acoustic, where as the TAVY is a bigger beast. The Taw is easier for finger picking.
