apologies to tim and mike they've not heard this yet. tim sent me the music today, i couldn't come up with a lyric, also im the meantime i'd been trying to redo a song i did in the mid to late eighties called the sea of tranquility but couldn't get it right. then i went back to the track and discovered the lyrics for the sea of tranquility fit perfectly. impatient as ever i want feedback, i am pissed as a fart (drunk) and knackered with sleep deprivation so it could be a crock of shit. hopefully it's not and mike can add some bass to it.
heres the lyric
The sea of tranquillity
It's the place for me
The sea
Of tranquillity
Nothing much happens there
You feel
As light as air
One day we'll go there
We'll have such fun
The daylight lasts forever
Dazed by the sun
In The sea
Of tranquillity
hey you and me
Playing in the sea
Of tranquillity
One day we'll go there
We'll set up house
We'll have children
who float on air
They say the weathers good there
It never rains
oh
It never snows
The sun shines so brightly
One day we'll go there
We'll have such fun
Walking hand in hand
Hello everyone
Oh were gonna go
To the sea
Of tranquillity
Were gonna go
Were Gonna go
To the sea
Of tranquillity...........
Eeeeeh
Its wonderful
By the sea
Oooh ohh
The sea
Of tranquility
One day well go there
I think well stay
On the sea
Of tranquillity
For what its worth, I think this is brilliant. The lyrics fit the music perfectly. When filled out this will be a monster song. Just my opinion, take it or leave it. Brilliant I say.
Yes!
this is great stuff... I love it.
nice guitar work & great lyrics too.

this reminds me of richie havens for some reason.
I tried to inject some Johnny Marr into this one (well, a shallow imitation of, lol). There's a song called 'Barbarism begins at home' on The Smith's 'Meat is Murder' where they break down into a pure funk groove at the end. This one goes somewhere down that path. I was just enjoying myself on the guitar, but somehow ORH turned it into a fully-realised song. The vocals fit it like a tailored glove :)
Man that's a powerful collaboration! Love the drone guitar.
Chunky and funky, so I gave the bass a bit of welly. I so rarely use a pick that it seemed alien to me and then I got cramp in my right hand, it's usually my left.....
Here is the sea of tranqulity with added ooomph!
I need an Ampeg 8 x 10 with 500 watt head.
Man that bass sounds good Flash. Your fingers are flying. What a great groove, what perfect timing. That really rounds out the song to perfection. The guitar and bass sound super together.
I love it all the music is great, lyrics, and Flash.... the bass sounds fantastic! Well done guys!
wow, great stuff flash, we are getting into baggy territory here very madchester to my ears, happyroses.......
Awesome playing, Mike. This grooves along brilliantly now. Definitely a Stone Roses / Happy Mondays funky dance vibe going on. And the pick sound really works on this. Ha ha.. love it! ;D
Great work guys! I love the bass.
Great work guys sounds teriffic, when is the tour booked!!!
funky bass lines, love it and wish I could do as well...awesome tune
Final version - if the boys approve :)
This started with a Hofner verythin (the one in my pic) doing three layers of funk and shimmer, then it went to ORH for words and vocals. Flash Harry added some juicy bass licks, and I just drank some wine and topped it off with some backing vocals :D
Re-mix coming...
Remixed version...
Absolutely killer sound on this one. I can't say enough so I will just sit in awe and listen to this over and over...That bass gets me every time, you have placed it perfectly in the mix. Is this FlashHarry's finest moment, or is he just getting warmed up?

My fingers have just healed. I can play without pain for the first time in months. Just need to overcome the cramp now......

It's not just spot in, it's integral to the sound and feel of this track now.
We're up to 9 tracks (I think!) in little over a week, so god knows what we'll come up with next. More finest Flash Harry moments to come... ;)
It's absolutely nothing to do with me. It's all ORH's lyrics and Tim's inspired writing. I'm just flailing about on the end of a bit of rope tied to the wild mustang that is this songwriting duo. I'm normally about three songs behind.
I am having great fun though. It's challenging to keep up with the production rate but I am having to produce stuff quicker and become more accurate than I am used to. So it's all good.
Tim and Jim are the work of art. I'm the plinth that they stand on.
when the three of you guys get together - serious ass kickin tunes is the result.
love the bass licks flash... i'm going to the pick a try.
You need a really stiff chunk of plastic. Don't use the normal six stringer picks, they just bend and don't put the edge into the string.
They feel quite numb in your hand but you get used to them pretty quickly.

since i'm a crossover from the guitar world - i don't use a typical bass playing technique, in fact i don't often use a pick for my six string. i tend to have a Wes Montgomery style of playing on both my bass and six string - all thumb.
now i heard what your first thought was "ALL THUMBS" :D
maybe i'll try using a thick thumb pick that i have leftover from the days when i tried to do some bluegrass.
im sitting on four new jemima's kite songs. waiting on a combination of mikes bass and tims backing vox, but they are both in hibernation right now. bugger bugger bugger i want people to hear them now!!!!!
I really like the bass and rythm guitars here! Congratulations!!!

Awesome work guys. Just got my new soundcard in and this is the first track I have listened to. SO GOOD to see (and hear) you guys still together and making music. Chunky and funky.. perfect description Harry.
