Great stuff, love what you do with the drums. Suits the style of music you are creating and doesn't sound too much like a drum machine. The snare sounds a bit loud in the mix for me, but I realize it's early days.

Looking forward to more.

Cheers,

Nigel

thanks for the comments guys  ;)

this is my first track with a real bass (Borrowed my mates active yamaha), usually i use an octave pedal and acoustic simulator to get a bass sound on my guitar and u can't hit two notes at the same time (octave pedal doesn't like multiple notes), this makes it hard to do fast riffs :(

Just getting a sweep and tap solo down for it and i'll repost :)
Haven't though about vocal yet  ???

Really nice! I'm waiting to hear the solos.

Did you get the guitar sounds from MBR??

my last two songs (this and "Evolution?",the one ORH put lyrics on) i have used a BOSS GT-10.
All my other songs (including "TooTHLeSS") i used the BR,

PREAMP: METAL, Vol:80, Bass:75, Mid:45, Tre:70, Pres:47, Adjust Master to get highest input without clipping.
SP: MTLSTK, at 4cm distance.

Setup noise suppression with a quick attack, and adjust threshold to suit your guitar. I dont use delay or reverb for recording rhythm tracks, i adjust the reverb in the mix

I have used the BR drums for every song i've done with the ROOM kit (can't adjust the loud snare :( )

I'm lurving this  ;D
Maybe if you dropped the level of the drums and increased the bass in Audacity you'd still keep those thumping bass drums. Worth a try i think.

You sound like a very skilled guitarist! Impressive! Other than the drum track being a touch to loud, or the guitars not loud enough (are they ever loud enough...hehe) it's effin' fantastic.

thanks for that!

Holy chit man, this is awesome all the way around.

WOW

I've had my BR a week, and this shows what is possible. I stand amazed. Any chance you'll do a future tutorial on just HOW you got those drums outta that machine ???

Excellent riffs and flow, you are very talented.
I'll be awaiting more.

If that's a possum, it's a really demented, demon-possessed one  :D

Some serious skill going on here...

Wow... Thanks for all the comments and feedback guys, I haven't had a chance to play all week, so no progress on the song :(
I agree with the drum mix, too loud... Sounded good on the BR with headphones. I might start doing my final mixes on monitors to get a better perspective.
Its such a shame u can't adjust mix of individual drums :( The snare is toooooo loud in all my recordings.
When I get some time on my hands, i want to redo the drums for all my songs with Reason using my own drum samples (time consuming).

I always record to a metronome or basic rock beat first, and always try and double the time(u'll get a tighter recording).. eg. If u write a song at 90bpm then record it at 180bpm, then do the drums at 90 after.

Feel free to ask me any questions about doin the drums on the br, or record a song at a set tempo to the MicroBR metronome, and post me a drumless mix and i'll see what i can do with it.  ;)

I don't know how you can play so fast with such tight, perfect timing and control. You're displaying some awesome guitar talent here. The solo is incredible - like some demented piece of classical music. Is that played regular, or are you doing some kind of double hand neck tapping like Van Halen? Either way, it's really top league stuff.

Thanks heaps for the comment Greeny!
The first part of the solo is all picked. The double time section is all hammer-ons and pull-offs on the left hand, and single finger taps with the right hand. The harmony part was tricky (big finger stretch).

Would love to. Child of the 80's metalhead here.... however you are so W-A-Y beyond me technically, don't know what I could offer. I got my MBR a few weeks back, and am still going nuts working on Metallica covers lol.

I wrote some lyrics to this I have been thinking about this all week.

I was so close
but i let it slip away

All you needed was
The love I did not have
For you, for myself, For no one...
But now I do, and it's too late or
Is it not? One more shot!

I'm afraid of the rejection I could receive.
Those Times that I did not Beleive.

I see the light now
I can fight stronger
than anyone Please tell me.....

Your Heart is not broken
From how I acted
my behavior
The words I spoken
repeat

Does your Promise
Still remain from
The first time I read it
And I shamed your name

Was it my fault
I was abused
livin with those
who only confuse

Beat till I fought back
Left Never
Looking at those days again
Please tell me.....

Your Heart is not broken
From how I acted
my behavior
The words I spoken
repeat

Very interesting, I like!

You should make a video with a animated giant demon possum chewing through your wall and destroying the band as they thrash away?

Perhaps being riden by Ozzy?

Great lyrics man!!! :o I would like to write another song for them!
Something more layback, chucky groove...

I write most of my songs based on themes and at the time i wrote this..
I work night shift, get home at 8:00AM and this possum was getting in through a hole in the my roof (at the end of the night, before i get home). So when i get home, make noise, and wake it up, it would crack the shits, growling and hissing..
So it's scratching and biting at my wall from the inside, while im on the other side banging at the wall, yelling abuse...
u should have heard the noises this little sucker made!!!! STRAIGHT FROM HELL!!
So before leaving for work(11:00) each night, i would setup my marshall facing the wall inside my house, while playing from outside, waiting at this little hole for the bastard to run out, so I could plug the hole........This went on for a week! It was a duel between 2 angry creatures of the night.  :P
I wrote this song in 1 day at mates house on the weekend.. Song is in C# harmonic Minor, The frantic "trilled" sections (pre-chor, and chor) are the battles between the possum and I. The "slid octave chords" sections (Verses) is the plotting of the battles. The "off time riff" and solo sections (Bridge) is the final duel.
I can hear heavy rap like vocal during verses, screamed pre-chor's, sung chorus (I-VI-V progression), and a built up bridge (maybe whispered to heavy, then back to whispered on the halftime change.
What u think?

I agree, Holdem, these are really great lyrics.  This would make a killer song in the right setting.

Quote from: rythmking24 on January 30, 2009, 01:16:25 PMthis song is awesome. even better with the imense solo. if you ask me, and even if you don't... i think you should write some lyrics about your frequent encounter with this mischievous possum. obvioulsy then, they will tie in nicely with the song. it's a tune that definately deserves to be finished off. i would also like to have a go at putting some vocals to it, but i think it would be best with your own lyrics and as much input as you could give really. of course, i wouldn't be offended if you didn't want me to be involved at all. you know... whatever.  8)

Hey dude, thanks for comment...
I would write lyrics to it, but i have real trouble with writing lyrics... ???
I'd love to hear what u could do with it (Ur song "Mottephobia" kicks ass!), Do ya wanna givus a hand writing the lyrics? Just PM or email me
