Here's a
very short recording (0:39) of one of my favourite TV themes. I recorded and mixed it entirely on my BR-864 with a Godin xtSA. All effects are from the BR, and I programmed the drums on the BR as well.
Doctor Who
Cover of the theme from the popular BBC television series.
Damn 64 i like it a whole lot-
It's got a nice yes 90125 meets trans-siberian orchestra feel going on
kudos my friend
This is barking mad, inspired genius!!!! It's something totally different and unexpected. Love it.
:)
nice job!
you should make yourself one one of these to wear while you are playing.

Superb. I was a huge fan of Dr Who for a couple of years, fanatical in fact. My favorite Dr was also the guy with the huge scarf who would use that scarf to get himself out of jams, what a scarf. And he always had such a nice sidekick. This song takes me back. Thanks. It sounds really good.
top notch stuff love it. hope to have something for you soon.
Ahhh... the glory days of Tom Baker and John Pertwee... :)
Exellent drums 64! Sounds great!
I appreciate all the kind comments, guys. Thanks!
Yess I've been looking to get a Doctor Who Scarf! Now a need a fur coat like Doctor Zeaus from Planet of the Apes
Crazy stuff!
Fantastically played.
Does the Godin track as fast as it sounds it does?
Excellent! Loved it!

I think you asked me this before (https://songcrafters.org/forum/general-discussion-b8/dave-gilmour-signature-strat/msg5918/#msg5918). I assume you're asking about the synth-access connector ("track" is such an over-used word in the music world that its meaning isn't always clear). I haven't had the opportunity to try any synth access yet as I don't have any GK-compatible equipment. "Doctor Who" was recorded entirely from the xtSA's bridge humbucker straight into the BR-864.
I am very interested in synth access though, and would like to buy a Roland VG-99 (http://www.roland.com/products/en/VG-99/index.html) or an AXON AX 100 MKII (http://www.axon-technologies.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1&menu=101) (or both), but they're very expensive. I've been hoping that the price of the VG-99 will drop below $1,000 but it's still at $1,300 US. The AXON is more reasonable at about $700 US but it's been available for a few years now and I hate it when I buy a product like that and, a few months later, they release a new model that's twice as good for half the price. So, I'll wait to see if anything new is announced at Winter NAMM next month.
Played this lots of time - reckon it's superb! My boys keep asking me to play it again - shame they don't want to hear my stuff. Typical, eh!

My apologies. I was probably worse for wear and I'd forgotten. I really am so interested in synth access. I've tried a software product on the PC, but it's just so slow, you play a note and then a quarter of a second later the note sounds on the PC. I'd hate to spend so much and find it's so unusable.

OK....i've gotta hear something from 64g....where is it...?
re-post please!
It's stored offsite and no longer shows up in the MP3 player due to the recent site reorganisation. And I can't add any files to this thread because it's in "Post your MP3" which no longer allows adding or editing files. I hope Pedro will fix these problems soon. In the meantime, you can download the MP3 here:

OH YEAH! I like your work dude! cool flange & melodic jam...too short 4 me....
Extend it and re-post....i definitley dig it!
Loved it then, love it now. It's brilliant! just too short....
Excellent, 64! I'm not from England, but I remember watching the re-runs here in the US. I must confess, I din't remember the theme song, but this was very well done. Could be part of a larger piece. Nice work!
Frank
Wow I'm glad you reposted. Great!! So different from I will follow
Thanks, Mike, Frank, and PJ. I recorded the opening theme from one of the Doctor Who episodes, worked out how to play all the parts, then made my own recording of it. That's why it's so short - it's the length of the opening theme. To make it longer, I'd have to first get some songwriting talent. :D
64
FANTASTIC JUST FANTASTIC
ASSASSIN
Doctor freakin' Evil=-thats who-awesome job dude
Bold, ballsy, brassy, & flashy - a thumping good tune, 64Guitars! :D
And with all due respects to the esteemed here, I don't believe it's too short, even though it could be longer and still great. But always leave 'em wanting more, not looking at their watches...that's what I always say!
64Guitars;
This is great. It could be the start of something big.
How about a medley of 30 second extracts from favourite UK TV shows.
Obviously there'd be Dr Who, but you could also have:
The Saint
The Persuaders
Hawaii Five-O
Tomorrow People
and then finish up with
Generation Game
and
Rhubarb & Custard
Ok ... the last 2 were a joke.
Any other ideas
Good idea, g1ngerjack. I always liked Eric Idle singing his theme from "One Foot in the Grave", although it might not work well with Doctor Who.
Some others that come to mind are "Primeval" (might work well with Doctor Who), "New Tricks" (reminds me of "End of the Line" by the Traveling Wilburys), "Empty", "Midsomer Murders", "Mulberry", "Vicar of Dibley", "Robin of Sherwood" (theme by Clannad), "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps", and "Father Ted".
These are just themes that I like. They wouldn't necessarily work well together in a medley. But I might do a few individually just for fun.
When I get some time, I'll try looking for some more themes that will work with Doctor Who in order to extend it into a medley. Thanks for the idea.
yOU LADS just watch too much telly.
But the 70s tv shows are the best to do .
But Dr Who is the best tv tune in the world ever -- that tune is
probs the reason that were all into music now ( well us UK kids ) listerning to it as a kid
it just gets in to your whole psych.
nice 1 48.

Very nice! Mrs Demon and I are great Dr Who fans.
Complete the song. Much too short!
We used to watch Dr Who and the Goodies every day after school.Planet of the spiders,Darleks,Cybermen.....scary.
This is wicked mate, well done !
When I was listening to this I had a vision of you in the Tardis using the central control panel as a mixing desk for recording ???
This brings back memories. Can`t even remember hearing it last but one of those things glued
in the membrane. I love the tones you used to remake this. Great job 64!!
Oh man - that rocked - with knobs on!!
Super Kewl 64... remember this one from way back. Glad it got added to the fest. Would've missed it otherwise.
An amazing blend of instuments that make this a terrific mix! Much enjoyed.

Short, but cool! Stunning guitar tone! I'm not familiar with BR-864 drum patterns, are they similar to MBR? Well done!
new doctor soon so mibbes time for a reworking of this wee belter.
One of my Songcrafter faves…love that opening!
A blast from the past and great fun at that!
Quote from: Redler on December 18, 2013, 09:34:39 AMI'm not familiar with BR-864 drum patterns, are they similar to MBR?
Yes, but with one important difference. With the Micro BR, you can only use the preset patterns in your arrangements. The BR-864 has similar preset patterns but also lets you create your own patterns. That's what I did for this recording. I had to because it's in 3/4 and there are no preset patterns in 3/4. But when you create your own patterns, you can use any time signature you like.
I think the Micro BR is the only BR that doesn't let you create your own patterns. The BR-80 and BR-800 don't let you create your own patterns
within the BR but they let you do it on the computer and use those patterns on the BR in your arrangements. The BR-800 uses the BR Rhythm Editor, and the BR-80 lets you import standard MIDI files as drum patterns. The BR-864/600/900 etc. let you create and edit your own patterns right in the BR, though they can also use the BR Rhythm Editor.
Killer.... I wanna spill the beans... but I won't, it's not my style... ;) :D

Songcrafters Sampler, from 2008,
Wow 64 this is fantastic,
Well done.
Alex.
Still utterly stunning.
Time you did the full track 64G!
Flash, lets torture him until he does the full track.
I will make him look at pictures of my great-great demon grandmother naked.
and one more...put it on repeat and listen for a while...this has not been bumped in a long time and there are folks on here I think who would dig this. cool...very cool...and it rocks...love the harmonic madness in the guitar. Plus I am a big fan of the pick slide on the distortry guitar. Drums kick major butt as well.
Just as fabtastic as ever... rock on, 64G!
Nice..
Excellently played and constructed.
Love the heaviness of it... full on musicianship.
Grand..
