Roland has a new guitar synth called the GR-55.

http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/Daily/News/Roland_Announces_GR_55_Guitar_and_Bass_Synthesizer.aspx

"Driven by Roland's newest proprietary digital processing technology, the GR-55 delivers lightning-fast tracking performance and previously impossible sound-making capabilities. It features two independent synthesizer sound engines, each loaded with over 900 of Roland's latest sounds, including pianos, organs, strings, vintage and modern synths, percussion, and many more. A third sound engine is driven by Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSMĀ®), the guitar modeling technology behind Roland's famous VG-99 V-Guitar System. With COSM, the GR-55 can emulate electric and acoustic guitars, basses, and other instruments, as well as guitar and bass amplifiers."

Sounds interesting.  Price: $699 US or $799 with GK-3 pickup.

Sh*tting hell. That guitar synth is making me drool, lol. And I could probably happily while a weekend away looping myself into a stupor with that loop station!

I still live in hope of a new MBR... updated and deluxed and with my guitar plugged into it. Looks like BOSS have lost interest in them though.

Sounds interesting. And it's supposed to be inexpensive too.

It seems (hopefully...) a sort of GR-series, but with the speed-technology of the VG-99. This could explain why there has been no update in the VG-99 field.
In few months the reviews will clear the situation. For those of you interested, I could recommend joining the Yahoo MIDI guitar group.

This would be ideal for emuFest. Unfortunately, it costs $2,000 and won't be available until June 2011. :(
