Second song recorded with my brother this weekend.

This is an old song, and one of the first I posted when I joined here (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=2179). This is a reworked version, transposed to a lower key, and with my brother on percussions and backing vocals.

Sleepless night

So you had another sleepless night
The start were shining and the moon was bright ... and everything was
Quiet in the city
Isn't it a pity
That everything's so dead when you're alive

Now you walk into the night alone
Your feet is aching and you start to moan
Every step's in vain
You slip into the pain
As no one hear your whisper in the rain

Bridge
And you see the stars
And you feel your scars
And you hear the distant sound of life on mars

You fight the demons and you fight the light
You fight the darkness and an angel in the night
And in your mind a shadow
Is broken by an arrow,
as lightning strikes the tower of despair.

It is time to lay your head to rest
You've walked the streets - you've passed the test.
But no one's there to hear you
The night-creatures will fear to
Even make a sound - as you cross the street

This is a great remake of your song, Geir! I just listened to the original version, and I must say the remake is A LOT better IMO. The original version was nice, but I wasn't swept away ... this new version though is a definite keeper that will go into my Geir folder.

Superb Geir, really liked this a lot. A very different version compared to the original, but the lower vox and the percussion give it a completely new feel. Great collab with your brother, he certainly gets a laid back groove going. What percussion was used?

Beautiful stuff. I love the combination of the low-register vocal with the free and easy jangle of the guitar. The percussion backing is wonderful, and adds a real freshness to the sound. As always, wonderful melodies and emotion delivered with real style. I have to say, it ended too soon for me!

Thanks guys! And tho this was the second version of this song and I'm much happier with this one than the first, I'm not sure it's the last version :)

Nigel the drum in question is my new djembe (at least that's what I think it is :D ), bought in Spain on vacation there just before Christmas. I'll post a picture soon.

This is a real beauty - a bit of Lou Reed NYC feel and a Bowie reference in the lyrics, and overall a song filled with great gentleness.  I loved it!

Love the zings of the guitar, the percussion, and the bass - it's spare and yet seems so full and lacks for absolutely nothing - and your vocals are warm. Great production. Downloading this for further study...  8)
