this one meant a lot to me

words and music - gerry rafferty
orh on vox and juno di only(no guitars were harmed)

Windin' your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold.
It's got so many people but it's got no soul
And it's taking you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it had everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin'
You're tryin' now
Another year and then you'll be happy
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a lad in his place
He opens the door he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin
Cus he's rollin'
He's the rollin' stone

And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shinin' it's a new morning
You're goin'
You're goin' home.

Now, I'll be totally honest. When this started up I thought 'Oh no. No, no, no.' But by one minute in, I was totally captured, miles away and loving this. Incredible vocals and re-working. Apart from being a fitting tribute, I also think it should be a part of that there Re-cycle thingy. Ace.

This is a nice tribute, Jim - I dig these minimalist compositions you're doing these days. Icy Juno and...single acoustic guitar notes? Clean, clean sound.

And I agree with henwrench, this sounds like a good candidate for RecycleFest to me.

Shhh... ORH may figure out that that kind of minimalism isn't allowed.

I hadn't heard about Rafferty's passing.  His version gave me chills, especially the sax hook. The absence of that hook in your version really underscores the loss.

when i started out on this i forgot to hit record when i was doing my 1st vocal take and i thought yes nailed it before realising i hadnt recorded it, the above version and this version are the 2nd go at singing. i am not happy with this vocal take  but i'm struggling to better it and each time i try it gets increasingly worse and further from what i intended, anyway i remixed and added a few more nuances. i think this is better than the first mix but i dont know.
