Quote from: Ted on December 27, 2010, 01:07:04 PMToday I gave a guitar lesson to a computer programmer. There was no guitar available, so I explained the mathematical basis of major and minor chords on a white board. His response was, "This is the explanation I've been needing."
Hahaha, that great Ted.  I hate to admit it but that was the key moment for me on guitar, when I suddenly understood the math behind the scales and more importantly the fretboard, all the relationships and patterns, I tried to explain my revelations to friends and they couldn't follow at all, didn't have a clue what I was talking about.  The math behind the Pentatonic scale for example, I still get a thrill from that one Haha.  I admit, I am a Geek Engineer, what can I say.  It really helped my playing go to the next level though, no kidding there.

Sounds like a drunk Hawkwind session! Great fun, I love that lead guitar going all over the place. Inspired stuff - a song about Pythagoras, who'd have thought it......

Cheers,
