Here's something a bit different  :D

Not sure how to classify this song of mine! It has all sorts of strange things going on. But it needs some bass (for definite), and possibly some harmonica. Or something else I haven't though of! So if anyone fancies a tinker, feel free.

It's standard tuning but with a capo on the 4th fret (if that's useful information...).

For once, I'll post the lyrics, 'cause they're a bit nuts  :D

THE DEVIL'S SIDEBURNS

dark satanic mills block out the sun
and there behind the tent flap there's a freak show going on
midgets hung on hat pegs by the stairs
can see how much i love you by the sideburns that i wear
can see how much i love you as they tie you to the chair

time can only take you deeper
tangled up in green
and doctor love is here to kill or cure you
he's got the pills you need

there's bullet holes in the stars
for the sideshow freaks and their starving hearts
when the lost and found align
by the devil's sideburns you'll be mine

life gets in the way of who we are
in Barbara Bestial's bistro, she grows mushrooms in the dark
the leaves are slowly turning red and gold
and the grey hairs on my sideburns tell me i am growing old
no longer black like empty fields of crows

time can only take you deeper
tangled up in green
and doctor love is here to kill or cure you
he's got the pills you need

there's bullet holes in the stars
for the sideshow freaks and their starving hearts
when the lost and found align
by the devil's sideburns you'll be mine

Very you.

I like it. I do like your chord progressions, you have a style which I have come to recognise. I'd like to put some bass in and if I have time I will.

Nice one Tim.

Go for it! It's a bit of a crazy hotch-potch of styles, so some nice bottom end underpinning it all would help hold it together.

p.s. Doing something totally different on the BR later... a Dean Martin 'Aint that a Kick in the Head' cover using a backing track. It's part of a bet / dare... long story...  :D

Oh magic. I can't wait to hear that one!

Right, you have to bear with me on this one. I haven't played my bass or my guitars for a while and the callouses on my fingertips have been chewed off, consequently it's hurting like hell to slide or pull off  so the playing leaves a bit to be desired.

Still, with the first 'night off' for some time and a few bottles of stella (pain relief purposes only, I did not enjoy drinking them at all despite them being at the perfect temperature) I have clagged a bit o' bass into this excellent song by Tim 'LesPaulGoldTop' (flash git) Green,  who is a personal hero.

Here it is. I hope that I can do a better job when my fingers are healed.

Heh heh... nice one Mike. Stella or no stella, no need to wait for the skin on your fingers to grow back... this is great as it is!  :)

Really appreciate your time and effort, and what this forum has done for my music since i stumbled across it a mere few months ago. It's such a great place to be!

Thanks so much

p.s. I thought 'Strictly Come Dancing' was as exciting as Saturday night ws going to get. So thank god I came on here and found this!!!  :D

Bleargh!

I used to spend my time on the internet because I hated TV.

I checked some TV out this week. I'm glad I have the internet.

I love what David Lynch does. Beautiful, sumptous weirdness! I was only thinking about him last night, because I was at a party with a jazz band that had a tiny drummer with a special tiny drum kit. What a drummer though!

And if you think I'm drugged or lying...
