Got a few hours on my own.  Do I listen to music, or do I step up to the microphone for the first time for a good few weeks.   Erm..! The microphone won - hope it was worth it.  I wrote the song earlier in the year and offered it out, but there were no takers, I wonder why!?!

I had the backing track already prepared, but never had the opportunity to put the vox on.

Anyway here is Troubled Companion.  Hope it was worth it?
Guild Starfire 5, Fender Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, K Yairi and Walden and a 12 Stagg string acoustic guitar and other music making boxes - including mandolin, bouzouki and 5 string banjo, uke and acoustic bass - a few M-Audio keyboards and a flute - all played and treated with equal love and attention - zoom ut 2 pedal and Logic Pro X

Sounding great!!  You got a lot of things going on in this!!  The double tracked voices or whatever you did works really well!!   :)

Nice job. I like your smooth voice on this. And the trumpet(?) sounds real fine!

I like the soul groove to this - it seared itself in my mind right away. The horns certainly make it more soulful. Also, I dig how the lead guitar sometimes follows the vocal melody and other times is used as a call-and-response to the vocal. Cool things happening here.

Thanks all for the comments and listens.

Kari yes 'twas a trumpet emulation.
Ta mr2kewl.
Wiley: I'm pretty rubbish at singing and equally (if that's possible) as bad at double tracking, so I was half pleased with this attempt.
It was just nice, chip, to express how I felt on the guitar.  So much of what I've done lately seems to be inhibited by trying to conform, or restrict my wanderings to the tune.  Doesn't come naturally.  I like to push at the timing and tweak the swing and beat.  Probably over the top, but it's fun.

Thanks again

Leigh

I really enjoyed this, i think your vox are coming on and you jhave a great rich sound to your voice. The double tracking works well, it's sounding quite good, don't worry you will get sharper at that. I loved the feel here and the trumpet sounds great.

Really good track, I enjoyed it a lot.

Nothing wrong with the vocal, and nothing much wrong with the song either, its put together superbly...lots of clever additions along the way which really keeps you interested throughout.
Really liked the drums too, not an obvious pattern for the style of the song, but they seem to work perfectly and give it a real edgy feel.
