Mine will be the colour of a good burgundy and as tough as shoe leather probably.

I've heard it said "what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger".  At least that's how I justify the next round....Tim, I should have rolled off some of the bottom end on this one.  The dreadnought tends to get boomy.  I still have not had success with external mic.  Do you folks use a "powered" mic, or straight in?  I don't seem to be able to get much input volume.  Thanks.

It sounded fine to me!

People seem to be doing both on here. Personally, I always use the in-built mic, and it works pretty well. I've only had volume issues when I'm using my little ibanez acoustic... it just doesn't have enough bulk or space to 'project' (...unless you plug it in when it becomes a real demon). Remember that there are two more options to increase the volume (assuming the input is already on max):

1. On the individual track level
2. On the Master level

Or a combination of both!

Certain mastering effects also have a louder tone.

I'm sure someone else can give a more 'technical' reply!  :)

p.s. Looking forward to singing this later

p.p.s. Do you know 'Winterwood' by Don McClean? I just think it would suit your playing. Would make a nice cover...  ;) :D

Love Winterwood (and just about all else by D. McLean).  Thanks for tips on input levels.  Being 46, I may be to far gone in years to comprehend this gadget.  Had yesterday off, so recorded a 4-trk demo of Wish You Were Here (every guitarist has done a version, right?).  12-string, 6-string, lead/harmony vocals.  It ain't ready for iTunes; but had a blast (and a couple of beers) in process.

-No hurry on Julia.  Can't wait for my wife to hear.  Do you like Scarbourough Fair by Simon/Garfunkel?   Working on a pretty cool version on that, which should give a singer a field day with layering vocal tracks.

couldn't resist doing this straight after work  :)

It's a totally straight delivery of the vocal... as true to Lennon's beautiful simplicity as I could get, and absolutely no f*cking around or liberties taken.

Hope you like it Ronnie! And that it's what you had in mind as an anniversary present  :)

I'm really happy with it. When something is played as beautifully as this it's just a pleasure to sing over.

I've been messing around with 'Wish You were Here' too, but I'll bet you play it a lot better than I do!

Would love to add some vocals to Scarborough Fair. It's a real tricky one,  but I've loved the song since I was a kid, and I do like layered harmonies. Can't guarantee it would work, but i'd give it a shot  :)

Same goes for Winterwood, Blackbird, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake etc etc....

Simply stunning Tim.  I've downloaded to my library and have listened to it about 10 times already.  Getting ready to dump on my wife's iPod for a surprise.  Cannot thank you enough for this.  And the manner you did it would make Lennon proud!  Did I mention that this is freakin' GREAT!

Here's my stab at "Wish You Were Here" (guess every guitarist eventually does a version, right?).  I'm okay with guitars.  My vocals are exceptionally poor on a good day!  But if you like the instrumental parts, I could probably cut you a demo of that to play around with.  Too bad we must work for livings!

Hope this uploads.  I'm having trouble, but I don't think it exceeds 5mb.

Will download Wish You Were here and have a listen right now...
