Just a little prog-Alt.country-folk-rock kinda song about being who you are and not letting anybody tell you different.

*****I noticed I mixed this last night with the bass over on the right side.  One too many red ale I guess.  Here is the new mix with the bass in the center******
Eye To Eye
Recorded on BR-1200 (drums from BR-1200)
Godin xtSA, seagull acoustic, bass, synth, E-piano
I met a man the other day
I was walking down the road
I looked deep inside his eyes
When I realized he was selling fools gold
He tried to tell me what's what
In his mind he thought he was right
He refused to see the world through my eyes
His words they cut as deep as a knife.

When we don't see eye to eye no one wins
We face off...thats how wars begin

We argued on for what seemed days
It all went round and round
He had his truth and I had mine
It all became just a jangling sound
He said things that didn't make sense
So I countered with what I believed
In the end it was like the trees and rocks
Arguing about the colour of the leaves

Red and green, yellow and gold
What you see is what you've been told
You can't even see the forest for the trees
It all comes down to what you believe
Look in the mirror and look outside
Everything you see is from your own mind
If you knew the truth it would set you free
But until that day don't come around bothering me

Why is it every-time I turn around
There's always someone yapping at me
Telling me the way I live my life is wrong...sheesh
I get so sick and tired of it all
Want to tell them to go to hell
Everyone's got their own life to live
I'm not buying it, so stop trying to sell

Feel the music flowing all around you
Its like a howling wind in the night
Ride the wave, its all you can do
Climb aboard and hold on tight
Don't try to control it too much
Or it'll slip through your fingers and be gone
It'll leave you like a scorned lover
Nothing in your pocket but the grey dawn

Red and green, yellow and gold
What you see is what you've been told
You can't even see the forest for the trees
It all comes down to what you believe
Look in the mirror and look outside
Everything you see is from your own mind
If you knew the truth it would set you free
But until that day don't come around bothering me

When we don't see eye to eye no one wins
we face off...thats how wars begin
I don't need some joker telling me who I am
In fact...I don't give a damn.

Well.....

"F*ck" and "Yeah" Come to mind!!!!

Lyrics please!!!!
Sounds Great but I cant make them all out over the bass (and my headphones)....
This is the best I have heard your voice though!!!
I get bits that keep the bad ass vibe going though!! Is that enough? Maybe!!!!!
A treat to the ears!!!!!

Oh well ........

Blooby

There's a little of everything in this tune.  I know this sounds a bit odd, especially that the voices are so different, but parts of this sound like they could have been on Tommy.

AndyR

Hell yeah!

I can hear Levon Helm too, I think it's the rhythm of your delivery rather than anything else... And yep, I agree with Blooby, it would fit on Tommy...

I love the "Red and Green ... don't come around bothering me" sections. That's where your hook is in this one. If it was me, I'd be hacking around trying to get that in sooner, and possibly more often (at the expense of other sections) - but that's just what I'd do, it works like it is already...

Great lyrics... autobiographical in some way maybe?  ::) :D ;)
