Youre just being churlish now tony. When I put up what information I did you were all over it, but now that someone else brings up that I'm an AE (in order to provide context to my information and equipment) its smug and superior? Please.

But she interfaces just fine with my existing equipment, so we dont need to do much talking.

Actually, I'm still very much interested in bettering my abilities across the board, That doesn't change.

For the record, It wasn't when somebody else pointed out that you were an AE, that set me off, it is your overall demeanor. The self-infatuation wears quickly. Your condescending replies tallied at an alarming rate. It's quite apparent that you think highly of yourself, and I'm all for self-confidence. Arrogance is a trait that I can do without.

My condescending replies that can all be paraphrased as, in rapid summary 'These are a few ways to record guitar, this is what some stuff is and does, you find the best one for you, no, I'm not saying what youre doing now is wrong, its just not right for me, ok, this is just how I do it but plenty if people do as well or better with very different methods, the songs and understanding what youre doing are the most important things'

Plus a little harmless banter with wartime novelty and oldrottenhead

You seem to be taking this all very personally, and made it antagonistic in an unveiled way in reply #30 and outright personally attacking in this one, and conclude that I have a problem? My problem was that I didnt know that the reason people use standalone recorders so much here, rather than just being an oddity, a internet sub-cultural outlier, is because it was actually a standalone recorder forum, once upon a time, hence all the defensive replies focussing 100% on boss standalone recorders not one metion. Not one casual question or input or elaboration on VSTs, Impulses, load boxes, speaker simulators, modellers, DIs, mic pres, mics, amps or anything else mentioned. So very much to talk about there, so very much people experienced with them could bring up (for example, shortly after I posted this guide on the forum it was written for, Wartime Novelty elaborated on the VSTs and impulses part with cheaply or freely available example and a tutorial in how exactly to use them). Nothing. Just 'What did he very obliquely imply about MBRs? Well, we cant have that!'

I wouldnt have posted the guide at all if I'd known the forums history.

Sorry for trying to help people that may not know what options are available to them. Very insulting of me to MBR users.

Right, this is a shitstorm. In the unlikely event anyone posts anything constructive, informative or genuinely inquisitive I'll reply but as is, this helps no one.

Edit: punctuation. There wasnt any, more or less. Now theres a little bit

Derailed, yes. Got personally unpleasant, no.

imo.

And shall I take that to mean that you were trying to be insulting, or that you were insulted or both?

Edit: actually, no, it got derailed in the replies 3 on: it was never *about* standalone recorders, it was about recording guitar, generally. But thats what got picked up on, obsessively.
