Ken started this one, sent me a mp3 with strat, acoustic, bass and drums.  I brought it into my BR-1200, re-arranged it slightly to give room for some solo action, then added some E-piano, synth, Tele (solos), another layer of bass, and vocals.  I played around with the drums, added another layer with some reverb and delay to pump them up.  Thanks Ken for starting this one, you pushed me outside my box for sure here, it was a lot of fun.  We got our funk on for this one.

lyrics/vocals : Dave
Life is a grindstone,
It'll either grind you down or polish you up.
Shine like a star or burn like a sun,
it all depends upon what you are made of.

The battles over put down your guns
Walk with me towards the sun
I got things to say, I got things to do
My only hope is that I'm not bothering you.

That's life...they say
Some live for gold, some for fame
Let your love rain down all around you
Because in the end its all a game

I've seen things you wouldn't believe
I've been places that I shouldn't have gone
Through it all I was looking for love
I've come down from the mountains with this song

CHORUS

I lost a good friend today
He got so old, what can I say
I feel the pain deep inside my gut
He was more than my dog
I really loved that (old) mutt

CHORUS

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

I'm going to start calling you 2 the Canadian Range.

Great piece of music here. I am digging the vibe, the words Pimp and Dope come to mind. There is nothing in this song that I don't like.

Dave, that's an amazing transformation of that song.
Hard to believe it's the same piece of music actually.

I can't imagine the work you did on this, but it sounds incredible now.

Wow!

The lyrics are great too, really well done. Love the Telecaster solos too, blistering and well suited for the song.

Terrific!
