Well, I picked up a tall American blonde with a nice tan as an early X-mas gift to myself....

Note: the grain and color are much nicer than this picture, also the seam of the 2 body parts not as obvious.
An actual photo is a bit tricky; I don't have a decent camera and when I do it with my phone, it really doesn't do it justice. Anyway, much more important than the way it looks is how it plays, feels and sounds... and I am elated to now have the full range of true vibrant Strat sounds, endless sustain, precise whammy action and tuning that my old old old squier strat was lacking, due to cheap materials and generations of home-made modding. Finally a guitar that really comes to life.

Quote from: Geir on November 30, 2010, 02:51:44 PMEUB sounds like the perfect GAS medicine ;D

Well, it's not a chrimbo pressie... but the funds have been released by the management... EUB on order as of 10 minutes ago! :)

We found a couple to play last weekend but they were more pricey than I was expecting, and both were slightly shop-soiled. Having said that, it was something of a revelation to find I could already make musical noises with it. The missus digs the noises and thinks it's the way to go (chicks love double-bass, man :D)

So I've gone to the same folks I ordered my BR1600 from. Severely cheaper than the ones I played last week.

It might take a while, they're hoping "before Christmas", but I'm not too worried.

EDIT: It don't look nearly as sexy as they PRSs and stuff above ^ ... but I have a feeling it's gonna make some very sexy sounds :)

Well I succumbed to the lure of the wavedrum.  Took my wife with me to the store, was playing along, banging away like hell.  It sounded real good in the store.  She said...why don't you get it...BANG thats it, no more thinking about it for me.  Early Christmas present. Now I just have to figure out what the hell to do with it.  I'll try to record something and see what comes out, a drum ensemble piece.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Woo! Just followed the link - that's some beast...

It's good having a wife who goes "why don't you get it?", isn't it? :D

Well, yesterday on this site I was introduced to the wavedrum, and earlier in this thread someone mentioned a cajon - so now there are two percussive devices that I want!
And yesterday I was reading on the instruments forum here about inexpensive basses. So it seems the more time I spend here, the more my wishlist grows.
Probably, though, all I will get is a new download of Acoustica Mixcraft to replace the 5-year-old version that was on my computer that just died. I hope to get that by the end of the month and get to recording some new music (actually, new versions of some of my songs) to post here.

There's nothing I need but time...

time to think and make music...

Not sure I'll find anything like that under the tree!

But needs and wants are different things. In terms of wants, there are a few fx pedals I'd be happy playing around with....

(although I'm a bit put-off that Matt Bellamy has one of the above... !)
