A musical quest for everyone:

Find the definition of a "blue" note, and how to play it.

Good hunting!

Played with a lot of feeling, Gene.  Good work.  What guitar / rig you using?

Thanks, Nick.

Here are some of my toys.
1985 Charvel (tiger stripes) with Dimarzio X2n pickups and my own custom tone circuitry.
1990 Phantom (red and black stripes) with Dimarzio stacked humbuckers and custom tone stuff inside.
Peavey 5150 120 watt head with two 2x12 cabinets. My small venue rig.

I also have one rack with two stereo amps. 750 watts RMS, driving four extra cabinets, for large concerts.
And one rack with a Digitech Studio 400 effects processor, surge suppressor, 30-band stereo EQ, Rocktron Chameleon preamp and effects unit, a digital tuner and a strobe tuner.
Also two more guitars. An Ibanez GARTB20 bass and a Yamaha classical acoustic guitar.

Nick, its all in what you do with what you have. None of my large stage gear is used for recording.
For that, I use a Boss eBand. similar to the Boss BR but minus multi-channel input.
One input, which is used for instruments and vocals. I've developed and saved twelve presets that
cover guitars, bass and vocals. Still got 82 presets to go. I won't live long enough to use them all.

You mentioned the device you record with. Tell me more about it. I'm always interested in the gear
other musicians use/love/hate. Something to be learned from it all, in any event.

The guitar is an early 80's Tokai Breezysound, which are highly regarded and change hands for (quite) big bucks on eBay.  I've owned her since 1986, she's like a member of my family (actually more like evil mistress).

The effects processor is a Zoom G1XNext, which is pretty cool for making all sorts of big fat sounds.  I recently got myself a Danelectro Cool Cat V2 Fuzz, analogue fuzz pedal which is more suited to my thin telecaster sound (like on I've Seen How he Looks at you).  I generally run through my Alesis Microverb for delay / reverb.

Some of the insert effects on the Zoom R16 are quite nice though, just DI-ing into the mixer.  Sometimes do that when I'm in a hurry.

Nick, you've definitely found the sweet spot with your devices and guitar.
You have a powerful, defined sound. Quite pleasant to listen to.

Well done!
