This is great as is...don't change a thing! Love that full guitar picking sound and the vocals are vulnerable and sound just right.

This is to the "Picasso Project" what "Stop" is to"The Wall" or "Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee (reprise)" is to "Grease".  ;)

That is EXACTLY what I was going for.

Rickocaster

Great song.  It's really short, but sometimes short songs are the best because they get to the point and leave you wanting more. Personally, I wouldn't add a lead solo.

The guitar sounds really good - both the playing and the recording.  Vocals are performed well, but might blend better if you backed them down just a little and added a slight bit of delay or more reverb.

Good job, as usual!

An excellent composition. I cannot think of a thing that needs adding to it.
Its very difficult to improve on perfection.

Well done!

Another excellent addition to the Picasso project. I love your guitar playing here, it is really delicate and suits the lyrics very well. I thought long and hard about possible additions but I think it works well as it is - it's really a poem set to music rather than a conventional song and I think the structure works well. Very good work indeed.

Cheers,

Here is another version with slight lyric changes by Fuzzface. I'm gonna include the lyric as I sing it (with slight modification to contractions and whatnot to fit the melody/cadence of voice.)

Self-Portrait
I wanted to draw a picture
of all that is behind these eyes
Instead my face was a shield
if only to buy me some time

Am I worth more than a thousand words?
I've stepped outside of the frame
My life has become my surroundings
No two see exactly the same

Now that it's all laid out
my portrait is solely for me
I move freely about
and paint what I want it to be

Am I worth more than a thousand words?
I've stepped outside of the frame
I am free to create my own world
My life won't ever be the same.

It sounds great.

It's probably too subtle of a change for most people to care... however I think the song is more well-rounded with this punchline, and fits into the bigger scheme of the opera as a whole better.

This is the moment where the character's resolve comes together.

Thanks for the extra effort on this one, T.C.
