T.C. Elliott

This is part of the Picasso project. A big thanks to all the other participants for their efforts and allowing me to be a part of it.

Please feel free to comment critically on this one. You don't have to nitpick, but feel free if something doesn't sit just right to let me know. Thanks for listening and for your input. I was thinking of inserting an instrumental (solo) section and/or removing the last 'chorus' section as the original lyric doesn't repeat it, but ultimately I figured this was short and to the point and worked well. Any thoughts to structure would be welcome.

I wanted to draw a picture
of all that's behind these eyes
but instead my face was a sheild
if only to buy me some time

Am I worth more than a thousand words?
I've stepped outside of the frame
My life has become my surroundings
No two see exactly the same

Now that it's all laid out
my portrait is solely for me
I can move freely about
and paint what I want it to be.

Some others may have some valuable advice, but this just sounds really pro to me.

Nice job, man!

I may be able to round this out with another verse to fit your structure if you give me a few days.

cuthbert

I like the repeated chorus - I wouldn't remove it.

I also think the song sounds complete as it is, but if you chose to add an instrumental section after the second chorus, I'd also wrap it up with a third and final chorus.

TC, man, beautiful guitars, I mean beautiful.  I don't think I have ever really heard you play this stye before (fingerpicky).  Fantastic.  I am with Cuth, the chorus coming back a second time is really good.  And like Cuth says, go to a solo (I hear harmonica here in my head), them back for one more chorus, that would be sensational.  Great vocals.

Very nice, love the guitar and the way it's put together.  Personally I think the length is about right.  Makes a fine addition to the collection.

Guild Starfire 5, Fender Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, K Yairi and Walden and a 12 Stagg string acoustic guitar and other music making boxes - including mandolin, bouzouki and 5 string banjo, uke and acoustic bass - a few M-Audio keyboards and a flute - all played and treated with equal love and attention - zoom ut 2 pedal and Logic Pro X

Bluesberry

Yeah, on second thought, this needs nothing more. Length is perfect as is, please ignore my previous comments...but then again...

I have been toying with a few ideas, but Bluesberry is right.  If we add to it or leave it alone, this version you did works well and lacks nothing.
