Tears of Rage
w/m Bob Dylan, Richard Manuel
recorded on Boss BR-1200
Strat, Godin xtSA, GR-20, bass

Well, this is my favorite Bob Dylan and The Band song.  This was written by Bob Dylan (words) and Richard Manuel (music) and appeared on the Bands first album.  I tried to sing like it is supposed to be sung (Richard Manuel style), which is a lost cause, the man is a giant among singers.  Oh well, rough as it is, I offer my humble attempt at this, one of my favorite songs.  And with this I hit 5000 posts on this little magical site of ours.

Firstly, Congrats on 5000 posts.

It's an epic number for a fantastic musician, and an even better person.
You don't hit 5k without being an inspiration to hundreds of musicians around the world. The Day I joined this forum, and made my first couple posts, I have looked up to you as a mentor and a friend.

Enough sappy shit, on to the music. Awesome cover Dave. The music is tight as hell. I love that tone on the lead guitar. The layered vocals are fantastic. I really dig the drums they set quite a mood for the song. Great piece of art right here, and again, Congratulations.

This songs sounds like you put a lot of hard work and effort into it.
You sang your heart out and it paid of in a terrific recording.
I haven't heard the original , as I really dont listen to Dylan, but I like your version. Good work.

great cover again  8) 8)

I'm loving this dylan fest

found this in weakypaedia :

"Manuel, who composed "Tears of Rage", described how Dylan "came down to the basement with a piece of typewritten paper ... and he just said, 'Have you got any music for this?' ... I had a couple of musical movements that fit ... so I just elaborated a bit, because I wasn't sure what the lyrics meant. I couldn't run upstairs and say, 'What's this mean, Bob: "Now the heart is filled with gold as if it was a purse"?"

Thanks guys...bloody hard song to sing.  The original has so much emotion and power.  Richard manuel is a tough voice to try to get the same feel.  I really love that first Band album, Music from Big Pink.  "Chest Fever" ... one of the first Prog-rock songs.  It is a huge influence on my music.
