I like to think that we support each other and encourage growth musically. Everyone is on a different level, everyone is on a different path. And of course there's always the option of not leaving a comment on something that doesn't inspire you.

I can't recall too many instances where telling somebody that they suck has any positive effect.

Y'know how some of us put "Okay to cover" in our signatures?  I was thinking that maybe we could also put, "Okay to critique," which would mean, "I can take some honest feedback."  I'm going to start the trend.

I've found that different folks want different things.
Some intend on continuing to work on improving a song so they solicit input.
Some just knocked out a song that they like and they want to know what you think of it but they aren't going to make any changes, they're on to the next song.
Some are looking for possible collaborative input.

If something isn't to your liking generally I agree with TonyW, "of course there's always the option of not leaving a comment on something that doesn't inspire you."
