That's three fantastic pieces of music in one post. Well done Nadia.

You have a lot of talent in those fingers but also a lot in the mind to think of beautiful pieces like that.

Kristian added some great touches to your "Dancing Snow" but it did stand up well on its own.

And yet another perfect composition. This one even has some Russian melancholy to it ... Great.

I do agree: This one stands on its own and IMO needs nothing more. It must be as rough as it is, or it would lose its magic and no longer work (for me).

But that's just MY opinion. I definitely don't see anything wrong with Neil describing what HE feels. It's his vision, and he does not claim that it is the one and only truth. So keep cool, guys! ;)

I for one do appreciate ALL kinds of suggestions and comments on my songs. I'm old and self confident enough to decide what to take and what to leave, and I wouldn't even dream of being offended by honest feedback. I'm sure Nadia can handle that too.

If I got this right, Nadia does want to improve her sound. Which is ok, as she probably wants to try different, more modern styles too. But for the songs of hers I have listened to I'd say they have a very personal character that is emphasized by the old-fashioned piano sound. For that kind of songs I would NOT recommend changing anything.

Just my tuppence ...

I'm listening to "Dancing Snow" now (the original version). I think by now I'd be able to recognize your style among other songs. This is another beauty, definitely suitable for film. And again with a touch of Russian gloom.

Now the orchestral version is playing ...

The strings are VERY nice. Definitely a GREAT addition. I don't like the piano sound in that version though. It sounds very heavily compressed.

I think without that compression issue I'd love both versions equally. In a film I can imagine the orchestral version as the main sound track or end titles theme, while the piano-only version would appear in a key scene during the film.

Lovely stuff :)

All three, but I totally agree with stoman on what he says about the orchestrated version of Dancing Snow.

I think some of us ... are frustrated pianists - I'm certainly in this category. I'm hearing in your playing (and in stoman's, by the way) something that I long to be able do myself. So when I hear the unadulterated piano part, played live, beautifully, my first reaction is always "NO DON'T TOUCH IT!" ...

As with all stuff - sometimes that would be the right decision. Other times it would be just one of many possibly right decisions.

+1 to BB on this:

That's the effect all this fine piano playing is having on me :)

Now, if only I could bring myself to switch off the internet, stagger the two yards across the room to the pianer and switch the bluddy thing on once in a while!  :D

Beautifully played, Nadia - I'm a fan of the lone piano sound, and you play it so well. Just perfect.  :)
