Here is another piece I composed during FAWM in February. My music is often sad but this time it was a happy little tune. Please feel free to let me know what you think. I'm always very grateful for all comments, suggestions and  advice. Thank you :)

This could indeed be the music for an old b/w cartoon - or even a silent movie. Mission definitely accomplished. :)

I think this song would also be nice as a background track for a home video ...

Great stuff Nadia.  Nice piano ditty which perfectly hits the mark you were aiming for.  Is it a miced-up real piano?

Thank you Steffen, so glad you like it :) Interesting ideas :) Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you Paul, yes, real piano, it's upright but with the action of grand piano. Acoustic pianos are difficult to record as I was told, well, I'm glad you still like my music in spite of me having a very basic recording. Thank you :)

You probably record your piano with only one mic - that's what give's it that "old" character. Definitely not best-suited for all styles, but perfect for the music you do IMO.

Modern productions use two mics (sometimes, with grand pianos, even three) for piano recordings, so you can mix the lower notes differently than the higher ones.

Yes, I heard about that but I'm not sure how it works, I think it needs training. I'd be hapy to learn though. Thank you Steffen :)

I think for your music-style I would not change anything at all, Nadia. If you plan to do pop music, you might consider using a software piano instead. That's what I do - but I'm the worst "piano player" on earth, so using a real piano would be casting pearls before swine. ;)

The good thing about a software piano is that you can always fix your mistakes on the midi tracks. I'd be lost without that. :)

Thank you Steffen, well, I often compose music which could be used in films if I had the right demo. I'll submit more of my compositions and you'll see why I'd like my demos to sound better. As for mistakes, well, I sometimes spend hours, days or even months to record the way I hear it in my head and of course it would help grately to correct little mistakes everybody makes including great pianists who practice 12 hours a day every day!

I like this. It has a Charlie Brown kinda feel to it. A very charming piece of music.
