Warning: This is longish - a kind of down-tempo prog-rock - so settle down with your feet up and a cup/tin of your favourite beverage. ;)

(I'd love to think there really is a Keeper of Hearts somewhere in our midst.  :) I could use a comfort blanket sometimes...)

Music/melody/arrangement/orchestration/mixing: Billy Playle

The Keeper of Hearts

Intro
My people's ancient legends claim
A star begins to die
Each time a human heart breaks
Or lonely children cry
I was summoned from another place
To do what must be done
To keep night skies from emptying
Above the third rock from the sun

(Chorus)
I'm the keeper of hearts
A weaver of hearts
And alone by the light of the moon
I tenderly pick up the pieces
And thread them onto my loom

(v1)
Tears of a girl
Her innocence lost
A tiny new heartbeat inside her
The shock-eyed boy
Who'll abandon her now
Too frightened to stay beside her
Tears of the man
Whose life turned out wrong
Tears of the woman
Whose dreams are all gone

(Chorus)
I'm the keeper of hearts
A weaver of hearts
And alone by the light of the moon
I tenderly pick up the pieces
And thread them onto my loom

(v2)
A blanket of hearts
That's as wide as deep space
But can't stop the tears of earth dwellers
What shall we do
With you, Children of Men
Who've forgotten your origins are stellar?
What can we do
For you, oh my sweet dears
Trying to live bravely
With so many fears

Bridge
There's no end to weaving
My fingers are worn
The heart blanket's edges
Will never be sewn
And tears of the humans
Now blend with my own
But it's for the child's sake
That I ease the child's ache
As it falls with a sob into sleep
Its tiny hand clutching a corner
Of the invisible blanket
Of hearts that I keep

(Chorus)
I'm the keeper of hearts
A weaver of hearts
And alone by the light of the moon
I tenderly pick up the pieces
And thread them onto my loom

Outro
Some of you might feel me
Though my touch is light as air
As I brush my lips across your cheek
And hold the blanket there

I listened this via headphones and enjoyed of each second! Absolutely epic, orchestral and very ambitious work! I suppose you wrote these fine lyrics first and the music was composed after it...?

Bree's voice is just a beautiful!

Billy is such a prolific musician, and he always does your lyrics justice. Bree was a very good choice for this song too.

You make me envious again. Stop doing that! ;)

Alfstone, Neil, LG, Kari, and Steffen, thank you all for giving this a listen.  :)
It's not everyone's cup of tea, I know.   ;)

@Kari  Yes, I wrote the lyrics and then asked Billy if he'd like to compose something for them.
@ Steffen  Billy never ceases to amaze me. He has an uncanny knack to zero in on exactly the tone/mood I envisage. Oh, now and again he'll come up with a real surprise, but even then it suits just fine.  :D

This is symphonic-prog of the highest order.  Stunning really.  can't believe your lyrics, each song is so different, but perfectly envisioned for the song style.  This is exceptional epic prog poetry.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Since joining this community there have been about a dozen songs that have totally taken my breath away with either the performance, the writing or the production. Some have all three and this must surely join those.............Willie
