Hi all,

I would like to get hold of some individual drum samples to use with the BR800 pattern editor. The free ones I have found are all pretty rubbish, and the commercial ones all seem to be part of a VST plugin like EZDrummer. I don't mind paying for them. Anyone got any recommendations, free or paid for?

Probably should have posted this somewhere else but thouight it would get the most reads here, sorry.

Cheers,

Nigel

Have you tried the links on this page?

As I mentioned on that page, you can also find samples of cymbals by visiting the websites of the leading cymbal manufacturers. They don't usually make it easy to download the samples. But, if you can hear them, you should be able to capture them in Audacity or some similar program.

Some, but not all, and not from that page. Thanks for the link!

So the world doesn't revolve around me?

Hey Ferryman, I use acoustic drum loops (if that is the same thing as samples) -  I recommend Discrete Drums:

I've tried others but I find these are the best recorded and easiest to use - I have the "Rock" and "Heavy Mental" series.  I have never found free loops that were anywhere near as good.

Good luck!

Drum loops are samples of complete drum patterns which you can insert into an audio track and repeat as many times as needed. The BR-800 DVD-ROM includes 265 drum loops in the Audio Phrase/Loop/Drum folder.

But I think Nigel was looking for individual drum samples (a single drum or cymbal 'hit') that he can use in the BR Rhythm Editor software to create a custom drum kit. It might be possible to extract an individual drum hit from a drum loop using Audacity, SONAR, etc. But in most cases, there will be too much overlap of the drum and cymbal sounds to extract just one.

You're right 64G, I want individual drum samples, not loops. Checked out the links, some OK but not great. Decided I just need to sample all the saounds from my Alesis SR18 instead.

Cheers,

Nigel
