The Fiery Flamingo (lullaby/Celtic-folk)

A change from death metal.  ;)  I thought some of you might enjoy a soothing lullaby. :)

The lyric was written in February during the FAWM challenge. Several of us were assigned a card from a deck of Mexican "Loteria" cards, and had to write a lyric/song about the picture on the card. Mine was a pink flamingo, bending to drink. The supremely gifted Robyn leapt in with her violin and vocals.

(A Simurgh is a mythical bird of significance in certain spiritual traditions.)

The Fiery Flamingo

(v1)
The fiery flamingo
Has radiant wings
To bear you up high
Where the rare Simurgh sings

(v2)
Now stroke its soft feathers
And whisper your name
So it will remember
The place whence you came

Refrain
Don't weep, little one
Only sleep, little one
Feel the beat of its heart
As you fly far away
Out of sight of the day
To where Infinity starts

(v3)
The fiery flamingo
Is of all birds the king
For sunset and dawn
Are both born in its wings

(v4)
And it feeds in cool water
On wee golden fish
As it waits for my darling
To make a dream wish

Refrain
Don't weep, little one
Only sleep, little one
Feel the beat of its heart
As you fly far away
Out of sight of the day
To where Infinity starts

Instrumental

Refrain
Don't weep, little one
Only sleep, little one
Feel the beat of its heart
As you fly far away
Out of sight of the day
To where Infinity starts

Wow, absolute beauty!! So relaxing! I admire the versatile you've got on writing lyrics;yesterday, a speed metal tune(haven't commented it but listened tho ) and a lullaby today :) . I love also the beauty on performing - the violin and harmonies are great. Fine, fine collab!!

how good is this !! beautiful is too easy a word for it, i need to enlarge my vocabulary. if my children were still babies they would be lullabied to sleep with this.production is so simple, but absolutely spot on. which is something so often unattainable. and the double stopping violin ! thanks for this donna.

I as well, need new  words to say my astonishment for the quality of music on this site. What a lovely song, I could listen to that voice for hours, and very pretty melody, pro stuff, great work ladies.

Ahhhhhh, this is so lovely.  I so much enjoy this.  Perfection.  I could listen to songs like this all day.  You are quite a lyricist, your words sound so good here.  Bravo Donna, Brovo Robyn.  This one deserves to be listened to over and over.
