SD Cards That Work/Don't Work

I think that we should share our experience of what works/doesn't work in terms of SD cards, so that we can be informed.

With that in mind, I wanted to mention that today I bought an HP 2GB Hi-Speed Memory Card, model no. L1877A#707 and it won't initialize.

I get a Card Initializing Write Error message. I double-checked everything, even tried the card lock in it's 'on' position just in case, but I get the same message every time. I hope that this isn't going to end up being one of those situaitons in which every card I try doesn't work.

Can others share their experiences? I know that oldrottenhead had problems with a Kingston, and has had success with unbranded (generic, 'no name') cards.

I haven't come across a card that doesn't work yet. I don't know which ones I've used off hand, but I did just get a 1gb Walgreens brand card and I can confirm that it works with the BR.

Thanks, SG, for the reply.

I hope that I have your kind of luck from now on. Did you take a look at the transfer rate of the card (in MB/Sec.) or did you have any other criteria when buying cards?

The only criteria I look for is cheap :)

Today I bought a 1GB Kingston SD card and it worked right from the moment I plugged it into the Micro BR, and did so without having to go through the initializing process.

It cost $13.51 CAN., including tax, so I ordered 4 more.

I couldn't find any 1GB cards in any of the computer stores in downtown Toronto (although I did see some online), and eventually found the Kingston card at the music store at which I bought the Micro BR.

As an update to the above: I received the other 4 Kingston 1GB SD cards, have done some recording on each of them, and can report that they are all working fine.
