All topics in the Post Your Work boards must have either an mp3 file attached or include a link to an external mp3 file ([singlemp3] tags) in the message body.

If anyone wants to lay down a bedtrack, please PM or email me first with your idea. We'll take it from there.  ;)

I hear this as southern rock, mid- to uptempo.

UPDATE 15.03.2011: I've changed the title/hook. Also made changes to the chorus and bridge.

Just Another Waitress

(v1)
A lone-wolf kid
I had wanderin' feet
Home was just a place
To sleep and eat
Mama didn't care
[An'] daddy was away
I grew up different
Never learned to play

(v2)
Got thinkin' early
'Bout leavin' for good
Packed a cardboard suitcase
An' hit the road
[It] didn't take long
For a boy like me
To grow up fast
Into the man I'd be

Pre-chorus
Took my lovin' on the wing
I was doin' just fine
Until I met a girl
An' said I'd make her mine

Chorus
But she was just another waitress
In a long line of cafes
Where I took my ease any way I pleased
An' never stayed more than a day
Yet she's the one I still recall
When I'm starin' at this wall

(v3)
Had mama's quick eye
An' my daddy's charm
It got too easy
Findin' willin' arms
Hitchin' rides
From town to town
Workin' odd jobs
That never tied me down

Pre-chorus
Took my lovin' on the wing
I was doin' just fine
Until I met a girl
An' said I'd make her mine

Chorus
She was just another waitress
In a long line of cafes
Where I took my ease any way I pleased
An' never stayed more than a day
Yet she's the one I still recall
When I'm starin' at this wall

Bridge
Got a few years now under my belt
I've glanced at heaven, stared into hell
Too many scars with a story to tell
But only two things ever made me fold
Was the way she smiled
And the lie I told

Pre-chorus
Took my lovin' on the wing
I was doin' just fine
Until I met a girl
An' said I'd make her mine

Chorus
Yeah, she was just another waitress
In a long line of cafes
Where I took my ease any way I pleased
An' never stayed more than a day
Yet she's the one I still recall
When I'm starin' at this wall

Yeah, just another waitress
In a long line of cafes
