I found an instrumental in the collaborations by Sir Harry who wanted some ideas for some music he had created. It had been developed into a song with ORH and has been posted here but I got inspired by the original and used some unused lyrics I had to do another version. It was the change in the middle that I liked so I left it in for this copy. Great playing by Sir Harry throughout.

You Left Me for A Reason

My head lays heavy on my pillow, the room is dark and damp,
I still see your face beside me, even though I know I can't
I try to close my eyes to sleep, but memories haunt my dreams
I feel like I've been torn apart, I'm coming apart at the seams
I toss and turn I'm so restless, I'm finding it hard to sleep
You know I still think of you, do you still think of me,
The night is a silent darkness; you left without a word to say
I wake to the quietest morning; my world is not the same.

I want to go back to our bed, 'cos your memory lingers there,
You said you'd always love me, you said you'd always care,
You know that I am hurting now; it's all because of you,
You left me for a reason, there's nothing i can do.

I hear you talking in the next room, but it's only in my mind,
You left me for a reason, and now I'm killing time.

I thought you would never leave me; I gave you all my heart,
We spent all our time together, never thought that we would part,
I hear you talking in the next room, but it's only in my mind,
You left me for a reason, and now I'm killing time.

ODH

I haven't heard any other versions of this, so I'm not tainted by them.

Firstly the backing track is top notch, really like it.  GWF to Sir Harry.

I feel you pain.  It's a tale of woe here.  Great lyrics.  I'd be interested to know if you wrote those during those long early morning waking hours - that's when I write most of my lyrics, trying to remember them in the morning to get them down.  However it does sound like you recorded them in the dead of night, too, trying not to wake the rest of the house up.  My tip would be to wait till everyone's out and take a longer run at them.

Good work though.

Sort of mellow and sharp at the same time.  Very nice.  Strange how ideas sit around and mature for while and then pop up as something new.

Nicely done.

I listened this via phones and I liked the production a lot. Geoff's lyrics and voice fits well on the mood of song... I listened Jim's version and watched the vid, too. Fine job on all versions..

Great collab here Geoff and Mike.
Real dark moody music with lyrics to fit.
Sounds real good together, nice work on production.
This really sounds like a seamless piece of work. like the lyrics were written just for this music.
Great work guys.
