WAV editor

just wondering if anyone was using a wav editor for mastering tracks, etc...  and if so what is a good one (for free  )

Audacity is a good place to start, and is free as mentioned. I use Audition, which is not free, but has much more in the way of effects and functions. You could try Reaper...
