I recorded this today between lessons at work, used the MicroBR's internal mic, some obvious punch-ins as it's not exactly a setting with no interuptions. The room I am in has a a lot of comuter routers etc for a cyber cafe next door, so there is a lot of background noise, anyway I have been planning to do a cover of this track for a while so thought I would get some practice.. I didn't really want to try to do the vocals at work, so I played the vox melody with the guitar.

I mixed down on some Ibanez headphones I have, the lead guitar didn't sound so "tinny" on the headphones as it does now through the speakers, and gets a bit buried on the chorus etc etc.  - But I also used a vocal patch for the lead guitar and was convinced the eq didn't need any tweaks through the phones.

Cool recording! The rhythm guitars sound very nice in the mix. The lead guitar as you said could be higher and I would personally not use any effects.

Headphones can really play tricks on us, especially when panning.

Overall, its a nice acoustic tribute to this man. Thanks for sharing.  8)

Thanks, I tried recording the guitars dry on this and use the effects post fade, so it wont be much trouble to remix it better, though hopefully this weekend the weather will allow me to try to record in a better setting outside somewhere.

I finally got the sony stereo mic in, I will try some things out with that today at work, so far it seems pretty nice... though I tried recording drums briefly today and even with the input sensetivity at -15 it is still Over/clipping so I will have to experiment with that some more when I get the chance.

Really nice job!! Most of us know how JC sang it. How about getting a female blues singer to sing the lyrics for a different voicing interpretation?  A voice tone like Bonnie Raitt, Bonnie Bramlett, Janis Joplin - just to name a few.  Please post if this materializes!

Thanks, I have another version of the song I recorded in my home studio with Sonar that I started adding vocals to but never got around to finishing. I am working on a album of cover tracks for a project of mine which I would like to record this for. I compared he older recording from Sonar to the recording on the Micro BR though and was pretty surprised that the BR recording came out much "cleaner'.

I too am amazed at the clarity of the BR.  Thanks for letting us all know that it records cleaner than SONAR.  That's a plus as far as I am concerned!!

I've been listening to this man now because of your take at this song. ;)
