Thought I'd post and share a song I wrote and recorded a few years back (on a BR-8 no less.....how I don't miss those zip drives).  Production is so/so but I liked the result of the collaboration with a friend of mine.    I play the acoustic guitar parts and do all the vocals, and got some fine keyboard back-up from Mark H.

The song is about the decisons made or not made relative to managing relationships (or something like that).

Lyrics:

Palm of My Hand words @ music by me

Caught between time past and memories that fade
From photograph paper
Unable to capture the boundless parade,
Of your love and affection

You came and you left in the blink of an eye
Like a wind through a cold leafless tree
Yet the power to steer myself back to your heart,
Was right in the palm of my hand.

I found myself trapped by a wandering soul
In lieu of an anchor
A heart without windows that I could not hold
Shackles abound her.
Lost in the waves of a storm boiled sea
Adrift without rudder or sail
While the power to steer you back to my heart
Was right in the palm of my hand.

Bridge:

A piece of a puzzle, a turn in the tide
An endless procession of time
The days tick away and the keeper won't wait
Or care if you've fallen behind

Looking ahead down a long winding road
With turns unforeseen
To stay the course straight, I guess all depends,
On which way I lean
The speed and the distance I cannot control,
The miles and the wear take their toll,
But the power to keep you safe in my heart,
Is right in the palm of my hand.
"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

Such pretty music and melody. I enjoyed reading the lyrics as well, and the lovely imagery there.
I particularly like the "palm of my hand" image, and each line just before it.

Honour the earth. Without it, we'd be nowhere.

Life is too important to take seriously.

A beautiful song with a sweet melancholy melody. Very nicely put together. It reminds me a lot of Gordon Lightfoot.

Very nice, such good music coming from everyone here at this site. Just loving it. Can't wait to hear more from you.

Yes, you have that style of talent....

This is really lovely. Yes, I agree, I do hear some G. Lightfoot influences there too. And some Bread.

This is exactly the kind of music that I love.

Wow - Now this is what I call songwriting! Great lyrics and fitting music that is designed to build up.

I thought the playing, singing and production were out of this world as well!

A fine song all the way around!
