I've had a lot of fun tonight making this tribute to ZZ Top.  It's more a tribute to Billy Gibbons' guitar playing, really - my singing is pretty dreadful.  I did my best.

I programmed all the drums and keyboard into my BOSS DR-5, all (both) guitar tracks were recorded via the Zoom G1Xnext I have.  And the less said about the singing, the better.

Hope you have as much fun as I did...

Always been a fan here of ZZtop.
Nick, absolutely nothing wrong with your singing voice. Sounds terrific.
Wonderful guitar tones too. A unique take on the song, I think Billy would dig it. It was a fun listen.

Right on Nick! I used to listen to this song all the time.

Well done revisiting this for us. I thought the guitars and vox were very cool, and I loved that creepy synth sound too.

Sweet!

I don't hear any difference in the players and I can't think of any reason that there would be a difference. One thing that some people may not be aware of is that the forum player starts at 70% volume. I made it that way intentionally so that there's some range in both directions (ie; you can turn down songs that were recorded too high in level and turn up songs that were recorded too low). The SoundClick player defaults to 100% volume. This might lead you to believe that it sounds better than the forum player. But if you turn up the forum player's volume by dragging the indicator next to the time display, it should sound exactly the same as the SoundClick player, given the same MP3 file.

Also, I believe all SoundClick files are converted to 128kbps, whereas the forum's player can handle any bitrate. So, you can actually get better sound from the forum's player than you can from SoundClick's if you create your MP3 at 192kbps or 160kbps. The only limitation is file size. The maximum allowed is 6MB. But most average length songs at 192kbps should fit within this limit. Longer songs, of course, will require a lower bitrate to reduce the size of the file.

That's probably it.  It wasn't based on any extensive double-blind testing or anything, and it was quite late.
