The Pirating Life
w/m Dave Berry
Recorded on Boss BR-1200 (drums from BR-1200)
E-piano, Godin xtSA, GR-20 guitar synth, Epi Sheraton (solo), Bass

The idea for this song was the big city, down by the docks, all those years ago, and another guy chucks his shore life for the adventure of the high seas, that was the idea, what that guy felt like in that moment of boarding the ship, his old life left behind.

Man, what a great piece of music Dave. I fell right into the groove and melted into the song.

The music is outstanding Dave. Glad to see that GR20 getting some studio burn! The keys are delicious. The guitar work..... yeah money. I have been peeking at a Sheraton listed for $400. I might have to go take a look.

Loved the lyrics Dave.

I've listened a few times to this one now afer sending the British pirates back home, and this is a wonderful tune Dave. An unusual piratsong dealing with some other feelings than most pirate song does and you've done a great job.

Very interesting arrangement here, Dave - I like your sort of whispering vox in the main verses - they have a different feel to them. It's all very relaxing.

Great job, man!

Yes! This is epic and sweeeeeet!!! A prog pirate tune - Only you would be able to pull it off, bro!

A forlorn pirate to be, boards the ship for the first (and last!) time, only to be devoured by.... Lobster Boy!!  ;D

You rule, Dave!

Like this song a lot. The piano in the beginning sounds very sparse and even a a bit odd, but that's terrific since it give a sense of abandon, that introduces the whole song!

Now I'm sentimental for all the poor pirates!

The music is perfect for the story BB, really like what you did here. The addition of the flute like sounds at the end are a really nice subtle touch that help the song convey the feelings of the story teller. Nice work through the whole song.

Nice one, love your unique vocals on this, fit in so well.

Superb tone on that solo, and you are a master of the BR1200
