I was recording on a "Traps" drum set I got from ebay for $650.I should post a pic of it. I'm sure you've played on some interesting sets as well, but it's all good. Didn't sound to bad. Just recently I miced up my Yamaha Beach. Just now working the sounds. A couple of more cymbles and I am set.
This site offers some excellent opportunities. Be well. keep on .....db

Hey Scorpios... sooo glad to see your posting again... This is a killer track. Just wanted to see if you had ever tried the Audix Mic line. I'm considering giving them a try. Anyhow you got some serious skills... and your creativity is out of this world. Very top notch stuff your doing here.

rata-tat-tat thanks. no I have never tried out Audix mics, seen them around and really affordable lately but never gave them a spin.

My suggestion is to read some reviews with a  grain of salt and look for the best way to spend your cash.

I think the audix mics are about 20 euro more than the cad package so probably a small step up. I am not sure if you are talking about the drum mics or other mics they have. If you are looking into a general large diaphragm condenser mic that is another story and what you want to use it for, I have used mxl's with good results which are really cheap. I am sure living producers would flip in their graves to hear this but hey, some people have to work on a budget like I sure as hell do and don't have the luxury of spending hundreds on a mic for every occasion, let alone thousands.

Best mic in the word is only going to let the preamp make it sound good and it is only going to let you hear what you are performing better, I would feel totally under the gun in that scenario haha. There are a lot of helpful forums around though for specific mics for specific setups and jobs, I am convinced it is a weird skill of ear to know what mic is best for what job.

Great listen, it certainly ticks all the boxes for me. A classy piece of music and production........Willie

Wonderful Scorpios, a great piece of work. I really enjoyed this all the way through, I love the twists and turns and the dynamics of the piece. A very clever piece, full of excellent musicianship. I think it works well as an instrumental but if you did plan to add any vox that would add another layer.

I look forward to hearing the finished piece. If I were mixing, I'd get the keys a little more prominent in places, as there's some nice stuff going on that does get lost a little. I would agree there's a little bit of mud to be tweaked (the drums sound a bit boomy on my monitors) but nothing terrible. BTW I love the stereo image you have got on the drums - very effective and they really add depth to the whole piece.

A storming piece of work. It may have been hard work but it has been well worth it!!

Cheers,

Nigel

Great work Scorpios! Recently, I have been listening Stellar Attraction (progrock) internet radio - this reminds the music they are playing there. Love this. This is very ambitious work. Well produced and arranged (and great musical skills, as well).

Dang this is special.  I love it.  So flipping musical.  Great job.  You just need some vocals and you have a world wide Prog hit.  Great flipping job.  I am not worthy!!!!!!
