Here's a cover of the Joy Division song Atmosphere.  I don't do covers normally.

I actually recorded this back in the last century, around '96.  Unfortunately I don't have the MIDI data anymore, so I can't make a new version.  Apart from the voice, all of the sounds are programmed / played on my Boss DR5, which is an awsome machine.  I still use it today.

I hope the link works.  Since they upgraded my browser in work, I find Soundcloud works better for me than Soundclick.

Nice one, Nick.  :)

You definitely got the 'Closer' era Joy Division sound nailed here - great drum & synth programming, and the Ian Curtis vox style!

Cool! I love this song!

I like your version and your voice! Top programming. IMHO I just think the song deserves a + "organic" bass.

I like it - Great job with the programming, too bad you lost all the data. That stuff is hard work I would imagine.

Excellent vocals!!

Good news.

Last night I had another look through the (3.5 inch floppy) discs that this stuff is on (the only way to back up the DR-5 was by MIDI dump to an external storage, for which I had / have a Yamaha MDF2), and I came across a data dump with the Atmosphere data.  I was chuffed, especially because there are two other cover tracks there I'd completely forgotten about - TV Dinners / ZZ Top and No Imagination / Blondie.

I've already begun tracking for the new version of Atmosphere (mainly because the multitimbrality of the DR-5 means that some of the pad tracks drop out as the song progresses when you play the whole lot together, which I had no choice but to do on the first recording).
