so was at a loose end and had a go

Numb

Sometimes you feel
And sometimes you don't
Sometimes you cry
Like a child
And wish you just felt
Numb
To the pain

Helpless and hopeless
And too strung out
To ever think straight
Caught in a spiral
That aint going up
Just down

Sometimes you find
Some solace in the bottle
But that's a false economy
That numbs
Nuthin

Jesus won't save you
But he might be the crutch
To get you through
And if anything does
It'll do
For you

Helpless and hopeless
And too strung out
To ever think straight
Caught in a spiral
That aint going up
Just down

Love is the answer
To all of your woes
And if you don't have that
You'll just be
Numb

Come on
And learn
To love yourself
Coz if you don't
Do you think
Anyone else
Will come
With you
When you're numb
Numb
No ones gonna ever come

Greeny

I love the chord changes in this. The structure is quite unusual, but that just makes it more interesting. There's a real dreaminess and soulful quality to both the music and vocal. Great work fellas!

Way to go Jim.  I can stop worrying about this now and move on to pasturised new.  ;D

Not sure what you were saying when you titled it though. ;)

There were a couple of errors in the track I did :-[, so I was going to redo it, but they sound as though they should be there now.   You've made it sound as though I know what I'm doing. :)

Glad you had a little time on your hands ;D

Will listen to this a few more times now the words are there before I comment further- I think this is a grower.

Jim, I am so glad you grabbed this one.  Your vocals are perfect, just what the song needed.  In my head I was thinking Cowboy Junkies (Canadian Band) when I first heard the music, and guess what you captured that kind of vibe perfectly.  I truly love this song guys,  this is good like very good Canadian Alt.Country IMO, played and sung by a couple of UK dudes.  Deadly.  You are on fire Jim.  I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you guys coming over to Canada for the tour, it could be big stuff over here.

I didn't think the music was that dumb.  :o - This is another that sounds like the lyric/melody was written right there with the music. Sounds good to me.

Lambchop meets the Cowboy Junkies, right Dave? Excellent job guys, Jim your lyrics are VERY deep on this, and very well put together. The vocal interpretation fits the song so well, a very powerful combination. Great music Leigh, as Greeny said, there are some great chord changes in there.

Cheers,

Have had a few more listens, to this and reached a weird decision.  If Norah Jones won't sing my song, then I'll be more than happy to have you up there.  You say you only rock, but this is different and your voice works so well.  The only stipulation I'd make is Can I have posters of Norah on the wall while we rehearse.

Very deep words - I would have never got anway near this standard without you.

For once I actually like my part in a song.  That makes three and I didn't sing on any of them.  Maybe that says something?
