MoO II

Wasn't gonna post this, but I decided I wanted some honest feedback.

The tune is "Easy to Slip" off Little Feat's Sailin' Shoes album. I really haven't seen many others cover it save for Bobby and the Midnights, a quirky band with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead along with fusion giants Billy Cobham (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and Alphonzo Johnson (Weather Report, Santana, John McLaughlin). Man, that was a weird make-up of a band.

Anyway, our singer loves Little Feat and pushed for this one. It's out first sort-of complete run-through and our third song of the evening with a new bassist and drummer.  It has some odd changes as well, not so much the chords themselves. Rather, where the changes are placed. If things seem tentative, you'll know why.

Recorded live to a BR-1600 in the living room.

Peace.

WOW  can't believe I'm the first to comment on this almost 33 hours after it got posted !!!!

This is one of my favorite LF songs. I love those changes in the odd places :)

And as always with MoO (be it I or II) we're in for a treat !

Great vocals, I can se why he wanted to sing this, he's voice is perfect for it. Your new rhythm section does a great job too!!

And the guitarwork is just brilliant, just the right balance between tightness and "relaxed". Is that you on the lead?

oh and that organ ...... aaaaaahhhh

And please don't take the lack of comments as a negative sign, the site has been a bit slow in the absence of a certain old rotten head ;D

I just hadn't gotten around to listening to this one - Sounds fantastic to me. Incredible vocals and backing instrumentation. The lead guitar work is brilliant as well. I can hear a lot of vocal reverb/echo, though - It might be just because you guys play so tightly that it's more prevalent during the quiet sections.

As usual, another cold hard cash deserving live performance in your living room!

Thanks for the comments, guys. It's a quirky song, and I can't tell whether to leave it in the rotation or not.  Your input helps.

Yeah, it's that semi-hollow Ibanez I got last year.

Was in Atlanta mixing through my headphones...something I don't like doing. I'm one of those "awkwardly dance in front of monitor speakers with overbite" kind of mixers. I always have some level of reverb and echo on vocals but try to make it subliminal.  The echo and reverb in this are more than I like, some of it from the effects and some of it from room reflection, which also tends to thin out the drum sound a bit. I guess we played too loud on this night.  Oh well.

And our new drummer just bailed as well, this time for health reasons.

Masterful! The organ and guitar combination is awesome. As always, this sounds so solid. There's some serious talent in that there room, lol. The Ibanez is sounding mighty fine. Incredible stuff, but it faded out a bit too soon for me. I wanted it to go into an extended jam!

I faded it out so you wouldn't have to hear the train wreck that occurred shortly thereafter.

Very nice work, Blooby. I enjoyed the listen. Don't remove this one. It stands well on its own.

I was about to ask you if you want any assistance on upcoming projects, but from the sound of the music, I should be asking you to help me. Keep up the excellent work.

I'm with Tim, this could have turned into a 10 minute session after the sublime vox were done, and believe me I'd have been glued to the uh... monitor for every bit of it. Too bad there was a train wreck.

Awesome!

Honestly!

I love it, everything about it, singing, playing, everything.

Sorry it took so long to post this , but it was missed in all the Beatlesfest songs going on around it at the moment!
